Can't go wrong with that pick. Loose rock n roll at it's best. Since I decided to go with one pick per artist on my best of the decade, I went with this one instead.

And Elvis Fu would disagree with us both and say it's 20,000 Streets Under The Sky. And we'd all three be more or less right.

IYDLYC wins for me because at the very end, after a basically flawless record, they unleash "This Time" , the best Replacements song never written by the Replacements.

My answer would probably be one of these but it would vary depending on my mood:

Build An Ark - Love Part I
Joe Pisapia - Daydreams
Joe Henry - Tiny Voices
Tribalistas - S/T
Sonic Youth - Murray Street

I would rank Float Away With The Friday Night Gods as their best album, and probably in the top 50 of the decade. LOL.

Many times, I'm sure.

At this point I think it's better to just go with it. Unless we end up having this thread every week or something.

This release for me stands head and shoulder above every thing else from this decade.

The rest are in no particular order.

For me these two release are similar, they both feature top notch beats with two very weird immoral rappers. I love the pure absurd-ism of these two.

I need to listen to that. I haven't really listened to anything else by him. I tried to listen to some of his newer stuff and it didn't quite do it for me, and some of his earlier stuff seemed a bit too poppy, so I haven't really gone beyond Purple Haze

not sure what order i'd put these in.

i really like the white stripes album, but i think i give it a lot of credit (more than say, what my 5th or 7th or whatever album of the decade) because of its impact on the tumultuous relationship i had with mainstream music at the time. i also really like brian wilson, and IMO Smile is not just something i hear, but something i experience , but at the same time i find it hard to articulate why i think it deserves a top nod, especially since the fact that it was 25 years in the making leads me to vague areas of lost classic vs. modern masterpiece. and again, that Akron Family album is wonderful, but i give it a bonus bump because it made me excited about music again. I mean, I compare it to my 2006 fav (Chumbawamba) and my 2009 fav (the Leftovers) and they are both super albums, but i'll be the first to admit they aren't bringing anything new to the table. Akron Family gave me something both enjoyable and fresh.

white stripes - white blood cells
brian wilson - smile
akron family - love is simple

there are good songs after Purple Haze, but I think he got lazy or bored or dipset falling apart took it's toll on him, but yes, the later albums are just okay. The early albums have some great hits, but don't really do it for me as albums. So I guess I'm saying I agree with you, and you should definitely check out "Come Home With Me."

prob in this order:

spoon - kill the moonlight
interpol - turn on the bright lights
modest mouse - moon and antartica
strokes - is this it? (although I prefer Room on Fire)
shins - oh inverted world
clap your hands say yeah (I'm still disappointed by their follow up)

Alright, with that kind of endorsement I'll definetly check it out. I'll probably download it once I get home from work today then.
