so neuro and I were followed home, harassed, threatened and had a minor (very) amount of money taken from us this evening. .right in our hood. not fun. called 911 after we lost him and they told us to stay put. the whacko caught up with us and THANK GOD I remembered the police station down the street. the very super awesome cops took us home.

they get donuts and coffee tomorrow.
yup.

apparenty they're not so amazing or they would've been there to save you from being mugged.

it was a bit unnerving. he didn't take a swing or anything but was saying something about how he should kick my ass after i only coughed up the loose change in my pocket. he eventually fell behind and we called 911. . .

. . . five minutes later, no cops, and we see him down the block again, mlle astutely remembers the police station is a block away in the other direction. we get a ride home.

. . . 30 minutes later (we're already home) the original operator calls kerry and asks where we are. what's more annoying is that a cruiser had just passed us as we were on the phone with 911 in the first place. get up, get, get, get down. . .

I got mugged once. In Paris, of all places. Some scrawy little frog held a small knife up to my throat (kinda). He was much more nervous than threatening. I ended up giving him what i had, which was $20 or so.

It's really hard in that kind of situation to think properly. Your heart is beating so so so fast and your blood is boiling. Good on ya for remembering the cop shop. still 911 is a joke.

I've been robbed three times. I did grow up in the Bronx afterall. Twice were at knife point, once with a gun.

First time I had my bicycle taken. There was a jogger who saw what was happening and damn if he didn't go after them and almost catch the scumbags.

2nd time I was walking home with groceries and since I didn't have any more cash on me the guys took my groceries!

Third time a friend and me were mugged at gunpoint and as were were preparing to hand over our money one of the muggers realized that my buddy was in one of his classes in school. End of mugging with them playing it off as if they had only been joking.

Glad no one was hurt!

Steve

you know, that was the first thing that crossed my mind after all this. I am going to get some. It's lucky we were together...when he started to leer towards neuro my flight or fight kicked in and I was totally ready to kick his ass (he was smaller than me)

grrr.

Got mugged on the way home from an Oriole game in The Bronx. Three guys, they took $20 cash and a $150 watch.

I would suspect that people who have had their lives threatened and their belongings violently taken are much less opposed to the death penalty.

I wanted the bastards to fry.

never been mugged...the muggers around here are pretty weak due to their vegan diets.

I may be, generally, a pussy. But, I have fought off a mugging, my own.

Picture this: It's Barcelona in mid-February 2000. I have bussed it there from Madrid's Mendez Alvaro depot. With arrival, I am going on a "self-guided walking-tour". Somewhere in the business district, around the noon-hour, two middle-aged, swarthy Catalanes approach me, the first to distract -- implying he kicked dirt on my trouser, he stoops to "clean" the non-existant mess --, the second to reach in my pocket and secure my wallet. But, think fast, Monty: I shake a leg, and so off with the first, and calmly clasp the second's wrist and remove the hand, sans wallet, from my pocket. They scurry then, and I am rowdy. But, happy. I had my moment of glory, I was a success, at something....

Follaos, putos robos catalanes! Sois mis putos ahora!

One time it happened to me, late at night when the streets were pretty deserted. I just kept walking and he followed me for a while, but I'm quite a big chap and I can look alot more fearsome than I actually am (I'm soft as shite really!), so luckily it didn't get physical and I didn't lose any money. It's not a nice situation though. I leaves you pretty shook up.

I was so embarrassed when my friend from Wales was mugged on her first trip to the States. They knocked her to the ground and took her pocketbook. She had never experienced anything like that before.

It just seemed to confirm every shitty thing people say about crime in the U.S.

I was robbed on a bus in Ecuador by a small gaggle of cross dressing ecuadorian lady boys. True story.
