I've never heard his podcast, but I have two of his stand up comedy releases in my iTunes library and yes, "nut" pretty much nails it.

I'm not sure how I didn't either until literally about three weeks ago, it's up over 150 episodes.

Dale, the premise is basically that he interviews people, usually comedians, in a sort of rambling fashion. There are also long long stretches of him just talking. A continuing thread that seems to run through a lot of them is that Maron's jealousy over the interviewee's success relative to his own has likely caused a rift in their friendship at some point.

Since I've heard every comedian interviewed a million times on O&A I decided to start with some non standard choices (Ira Glass, Scott Carter) before moving on to people I like (Kevin Smith Louis CK). Now I'm just sort of randomly grabbing them. I've heard there's a Carlos Mencia one where he basically breaks him down for being a thief but I haven't gotten there yet.

It's on itunes as well if you roll like that.

I've decided that the idea of Carolla is better than the actual product. I've tried but just can't do it.

A guy I know has pimped that Slate sports one to me several times but I always forget to check it.

I really must not be paying attention, because I've been following him on Twitter for a bit now.

I didn't either until I heard he was talking to Kevin Smith about Red State.

I too would be interested in listening to him verbally dismember Carlos Mencia.

Carolla has some good stuff, but his right-wing rants turn me off...just sounds old and bitter.

Mark Maron is pretty insane but he gets some good interviews.

Joey Crack turned me onto it when they taped from NC State's campus a few months back and had former b-ball player Julius Hodge on. It's a good, roundtable sports-themed podcast that occasionally has special guests. I just really dig the level of intelligence in the sports conversation. Pretty refreshing, actually.

Maron's recent interview with Gallagher is a whole lot of awesome. The guy actually thinks he has comedy credibility and should have his own show. When Maron called him on his racism he stormed out.

I'm a podcast addict. I'm on the road all day so I have lots of time to listen. Here are a few that I don't think have been mentioned:

Joe Rogan Experience: I think he interesting, but he can be off-putting if you don't like rambling potheads
StarTalk: Neil DeGrasse Tyson is smart as hell, and as close to a rock star as science has these days
The Pod F. Tompkast: A monthly show featuring Paul F. Tompkins. His characters also make regular appearances on Comedy Death-Ray

that's not really what happens, but it's a great episode and make sure you listen to the follow up where he talks with guys who worked with him.
