Barbara and Ernie - Prelude To
This one probably has a very limited audience here, but it's really good so I'm gonna post it anyway. Soul session singer Barbara Massey and Jazz Guitarist Ernie Calabresa (played w/ Harry Belafonte in the 60's) one-off project. It's a bit hard to classify and sometimes gets called folk funk or funk folk. There's bits of folk, a soulful groove, jazz, and psychedelic pop. The duo are backed by a bunch of rock and jazz players including Ralph McDonald on percussion, Joe Beck on Guitars, Keith Jarrett on piano, and Grady Tate on drums. Eumir Deodato handles the orchestration. I bought it a couple of years ago after reading comparisons to some of Charles Stepney's productions on Cadet/Chess Records such as the Rotary Connection. It also has somethings in common with Arthur Verocai.
It's hard to descibe though so IF the art and description haven't completely turned you off yet, just check out this:
that's not bad, do you have a link for it?
