Yeah, but that was rural NC, no? They're hardly even fully human down there.

yeah, and since they never leave the confines of Durham, i might as well have moved to Charlotte and been completely out of their reach.

Damn, Tanner came and made most of my points, and then Bloor posted exactly what I was going to re:Derris' story.

Hegel - you need to text the guy something SUPER innapropriate and end this the right way. I mean just brutal, like, say "don't get pissed at me she tastes like old tires and cat piss"

Or

"we never actually did it, b/c i only knocked out the back door."

You get the drift.

Haha. I am too much of a softy (re: pussy) to do something like that. But that is hilarious.

stupid question: If this douche thinks your past influences have "corrupted" his girl, why does he want to marry her?

I told him that I thought his perception of her level of innocence was way off. He said, "oh, because you think she isn't innocent at all?". I said, "dude, she likes dirty jokes and makes them without prompting. She is aware of things that I have certainly never informed her of. Get a grasp". A little less fluidly, but basically that.

I think that he doesn't think I have corrupted her so much as I encourage her to make jokes she otherwise wouldn't and think about things (cock) that she otherwise wouldn't. I told him that maybe it wasn't me encouraging some shameful behavior on her part so much as it is that she is actually comfortable to be herself around me because she knows there won't be any judgment.

He didn't like that.

Saw a female friend tagged in a photo album of some guy tagged "caving". Went to the album and the guy has like 50 different pics of different girls he went caving with. Avid spelunker, or secret conquest photo album?

Hegel, it's like this...and I don't think anyone here has said it: no newly married man wants his new wife to have male friends, especially if you have a long history however platonic and chaste it was with his girl. He feels threatened by your previous relationship and will always resent your presence.

The girl on the other hand, while now married still wants to feel like she is desirable to other men so will actively try to maintain old relationships with dudes she used to hang out with.

Once a girl gets married there is no reason for you to hang around, text her, call her, go out shopping, or go out to dinner with her any more.

This is the sad truth.

For about 20 years I didn't realize that Huey Lewis and the News "Honkey Tonk Blues" was a cover.

That is what makes it a good cover, right? (I've never heard it.)

I really hate the whole men and women can't be friends shtick. I've got plenty of female friends I never have or never will have anything other than a platonic relationship with and some of them are important to my life. And I'm not insecure enough to not let women I see have male friends...as if it is even my place to say who they can or can't be friends with anyway. And when I was married, my wife had several male friends, I had several female friends and it was never a problem.

This may be the case for you, but plenty of people aren't so insecure that they can't accept their significant others may have friendships with members of the opposite sex.

Yes, it's the sad truth. If you're looking for a concubine. For an adult relationship, not so much.

Come on guys, face it. We can't be friends with women, even if we/ they are married, because we still would do them if given the opportunity.

I have an old female friend coming to town soon. We were great friends in college and never had even an inkling of a desire for each other. (Although I lost my virginity to her roommate.)

Still, I can tell that my wife seems a little uneasy about her visit, despite the fact that there isn't now - and never was - anything there.
So, I guess it depends upon who you are.

I'm trying to explain our relationship to the wife, but it only makes her more uneasy. So, this will be a tough one. Hopefully we'll all be able to go out together and she can see what it's all about.

no way my wife allows me to really hang out with a woman one on one, especially not one who is single. not that i've ever pushed the issue. i let her have a couple gay friends (who could be pretending).
