Look at these clowns...

GVB - @1000TimesYes you've reached the point where even you have no idea what you're talking about. gimmick's run its course, man

Chris - @gorillavsbear Why would you even enter a battle of words with me? That would be like me trying to battle you in copying-and-pasting emails

I happen to follow both of them and was following this as it was happening last night. Just a bunch of pettiness, really. They have at it just like this every few months.

Whiney bitching about the Toro Y Moi remix of the Tyler, the Creator song that was posted yesterday around the internet. GvsB took offense and told Whiney to "get a new schtick" or something along those lines.

But you are right, Whiney always seems to be angry about something.

I think Whiney's point is more that there are exactly three PR firms that pretty much dictate/regulate what bands get coverage on blogs, how they get handled, etc.

It's ridiculous. I'm on a group email list that most of those reps send to and it's almost lock-step; as soon as a release goes out you can start counting the hours until they end up on GvB, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, etc.

I wouldn't go so far as to get angry about it, but since that jackoff tried to clown him first I see why he shot back. Whiney's a legit good writer who knows his stuff and tries to find good stuff on his own and champion it. He gets called a silly contrarian by a bunch of lazy lapdogs in response, which would piss me off too.

Glad that such a thing would never happen here.

oh, okay. I remember those two going back and forth and Whiney pointing out the hack-ier qualities of GvB.

Twitter fights... yikes.

like i said, i agree with him. many of these blogs (not all) couldn't give 2 shits about the content they post, but if they can please the PR firms and get hits, they're happy. pretty sad, and horrible for the music industry.

even worse are the blogs that just re-post shit that GVB and the like post. and they retweet like mad.

How is it horrible? It's no different than what the music industry has done for the last 60 years and, wait for it, it's what the music industry is supposed to be doing to try and preserve what's left of the industry.

What Whiney is decrying is hype; Thanks dude, I'm sure you and Lester Bangs will have a field day with this breaking news and that weird break in at the Watergate Hotel when you meet for cough syrup.
