Oh and I must have passed this beer up like 60 times now because the label looks like dogshit. I should give it a shot I guess.

If you can bring back a bottle of the Pepe Nero or Bourbon County Vanilla, I'll pay dearly for it.

And agreed on the label art. I'll let you know how it is after tonight.

Might be worth checking my bags on the way back... maybe I can bring an extra bag for useless bullshit like clothes to carry home on my back, and stuff the rolling bag with booze...?

I did that with a bottle of vodka from Dogfish when I flew back. Tried to pack it really well and only the cap got a bit mangled but it was fine otherwise.

Had one of these last night before bed. I don't know much about these sorts of things, but I know this was delicious, and that I slept like a rock after drinking it.

Oh yeah - I love those guys. Never had a bad one, and all were interesting / different. Also their labels rule, and I am an acknowledged sucker for good packaging.

I must have had a horrible batch of Two-Hearted Ale. The 6er I got was kinda blah.

"Blah" would be a new one. Sorry to hear that, it's certainly the darling IPA around here (Ob, sadly not Boston.)

That's why I got it, because you guys were raving about it, and I love an IPA. Will have to try it again when I get a chance. FemRabbit offered to buy me some beer last night (love that woman), at the specialty beer place 30 miles up north. So we decided to turn it into an evening. Problem: the store closes at 6:30p. Yup, no beer for me. This is the list of what they have:

http://good-ta-go.com/beers/bottles/imported/

Also, I see they have Monk's Blood on tap (!) Might take ye olde growler up there and do a filler.

You had Racer 5 yet? Also I see Corsendonk Brown, Dogfish 90 (if you haven't had it yet), Founder's Diry Bastard, Lagunitas IPA, Long Trail Double Bag, and fuck I gotta run out the door. Looks like a good place! Why the fark do they close so early?

Just got the early report that Founder's Kentucky Breakfast Stout will be arriving at my local store next Tuesday.

Good while supplies last.

Anybody had it before? I routinely see it on BEST STOUT EVAR lists.

Haven't had Racer 5, but thats on my list. Dogfish 90, Lagunitas IPA, and Long Trail Double Bag have all been imbibed.

I think they close so early because its tucked away in an industrial district, and those might be seasonal hours. I know in the summer they have breweries come, give out free beer and have a band play in the parking lot.

Well, if I never said it here, was a shameful oversight on my part. Bought a sixer of it a while back, mebbe 2 years ago, mebbe not that long, and I was anything but impressed. In fact, I was actively pissed off for having wasted 10 bucks.

Get as many as you can... it usually only lasts a few hours at the store (most always behind the counter/in back) and ages like a champ.

It was probably old. Check those batch dates on the bottle because there are a lot of stores that have old ass IPAs on the shelves.

Yeah after I posted I noticed on their website that the Vanilla was retired. The Coffee any good?

I had that Fort Brewing Hop-15 tonight. Its real good, kinda like a Dogfish 90 minus the booziness/alcoholness. Very smooth.

Also found a Great Divide Grand Cru. Can't wait to get into that tomorrow.

this is some good shit. i've had a few this winter...a nice beer for sippin on after a nice meal (breakfast or dinner). pretty rich.

my shop had what i guess is a rare treat around these parts... a couple cases of Pliny the Elder. i had recognized the name from here, i think (duckyboy?)...so i grabbed the max. they would let me - 2 bottles. might have immediately moved up into my top 5 beers of all time. seems like a perfect summer beer, crisp and refreshing. unfortunately they say they don't get it very often, and when they do it sells out in a matter of days. they don't even put it on the shelf when they get it, so you just have to ask everytime you come in.

anyone else starting to see an influx in the Brew Dog beers?

Image

pretty interesting brewery out of Scotland, concentrating on American microbrew styles.... a little spendy, but the Hardcore IPA is damn good. they have some specialty bottles that i'm dying to try but i just can't justify $15+ for a 12 oz bottle...but damn if this ain't tempting:

Found out today that a wings place behind where I work is closing and a pub is opening up.

8-10 varieties on tap, and he's hoping to have at least 150 different beers in bottles.

100 steps from my desk.

I'm trying the Squatters Full Suspension Pale Ale tonight. It got good marks from Beer Advocate and has won a few GABF medals in the bitters category, so I'm looking forward to a nice "session" IPA.
