they think they ARE the goose

I kinda disagree with you guys. The owners are locking the players out because they want to take a 1 billion dollars away from the players salaries. That's not an insignificant figure. I know the players are mega-rich but that's a chunk of change from anyone. If I was a player, there's no way I'd agree to losing a billion dollars without either: 1) something in return or 2) proof that owners absolutely need the money. Seems like the owners don't want to do either and want an 18 game schedule.

Moreover, guys like Brees, Manning, and Brady have really stepped up for the player's position and I don't think they're the selfish me first type of guys. It seems to me that the players are fine with the status quo and it's the owners who are being selfish pricks.

Maybe the Owners have the fans' best interest at heart and they know the best way to keep ticket prices down for Joe Shmoe is to lower player salaries. *gasp*

Yeah...I don't think so either.

Why would owners lower ticket prices below demand? Out of the goodness of their heart? Lower salaries won't translate to lower ticket prices.

Most players have a 10 year window to make their money, Al Davis is going to be an owner for literally 300 years. LITERALLY.

I thought my post was clearly riddled with sarcasm.
