There's a lot of great songs, but I think it's Travelling Riverside Blues.
Their best and my favorite track ever from them.

A close second would be No Quarter

for me it's all about the off-hand "and you know how it is"

that rules me for some reason...

Wanton Song

Based on most of the responses in this thread, is it fair to say most agree with me that the best album is Physical Graffiti?

Hm. That and III have always been my favorites, but I haven't really listened to them in so long it's hard for me to say which I like more. Most of my Led Zep CDs are scratched beyond playability (?) now.

In the spirit of all of the Physical Graffiti love, I think I'm gonna have to go with this one:

Trampled Under Foot

It's got the classic dumb sexual metaphors in spades. And it rocks.

other favorites:

Custard Pie
Dancing Days
The Ocean
Black Dog
Rock and Roll
When the Levee Breaks (probably my #2 choice)
Immigrant Song
Tangerine
Out on the Tiles
Bron-Y-Aur Stomp
Heartbreaker

Also this thread just prompted me to order a replacement for my copy of Physical Graffiti. I tried to listen to "Trampled Under Foot" just now, and it wouldn't play past a minute and a half into the song. :x

i don't know about ashamed, but don't let the radio over playing 6 or 7 songs ruin a great band for you.

and you dont' have to be a 15 year old boy to get into them.
i finally "got" physical graphitti when i was 27.

It's not that I don't like them, but you're right...radio overplay has had an influence.

Actually, I prefer Houses of the Holy, but "Kashmir" just stands out to me as the perfect example of something only Zeppelin could do.

But, to speak of dulling a legacy, I think Page agreeing to appear on the P. Diddy remake of "Kashmir" has to be up there.

Agreed, Puff is no David Coverdale -- after all, the former produced Biggie; that means somethings, I'd hope -- but come on... It's Led Zeppelin's guitarist with producer/arranger Sean Combs. I'm not a Beatles fan -- better said, I am not a John Lennon fan -- but the previous pairing would be the equal of a (had he not died) John Lennon-Jermaine Dupri collaboration.

Are you with me?

living loving maid (she's just a woman)
battle of evermore
the rover
royal orleans
carouselumbra
hot dog

Ever tried killing to it?

I am sure you and Bloor have a few felony in your past -- maybe never discovered by the po-po -- but murder... I wouldn't think so. But ye never know.

np: "Whole Lotta Love" (23:08 version from How the West Was Won*)

* And, to prove how anal I am, and what a profoundly stupid memory I have for mundanity, I bought this album the same day I bought Hearts of Oak -- Feb. '04, I think.
