official 2012 campaign video up on barackobama.com

how ugly do you think this is going to get? i.e. attempts at minority/student voter disenfranchisement, southern strategists making themselves into even bigger caricatures, ridiculous whisper/smear campaigns (carved-face girl, etc)

i mean, i know this has always been part of the game, but i have this weird feeling this next election might just top anything my generation has seen.

I'm actually already sick of this election, and it hasn't even started. Don't know who the challenger will be, and don't care who wins. I do feel like if Barry 12 tries to re-set the clock and run against Washington again he will get flayed. Just my early feeling in what it appears the strategy will be and that I don't really feel it will be a winning one. But they have pollsters and strategists and are privvy to the internal data, so i guess they know what they're doing.

I am hoping Barry wins. I heard that Barack's approval rating is higher than Clinton's and Reagan's at this point in their first term. The economy should be turned around and pumping by then, so the general population will be happy with their situation.

even though barry seems primed to go down as a one-termer, the repubs slate of potential opponents is so laughable, he's damn near already won the election by default

I don't want to think about the election yet. Or, possibly ever.

All I remember about last time was stomach acid and arguing. (And Dave saying Obama didn't have a chance, early into it.)

I think Barry will pull it out if for no other reason than it's looking increasingly like no one electable can make it through the Tea Party/Republican primary process. Also, hopefully some of the fallout of republican governors acting like crazy people will give Democrats a national bump. That said, while I was excited last time out, his first term has seen me more inclined to see him as a lesser of two evils like most Democrats than anything special. I think the loss of excitement will be palpable this election and does make him vulnerable.

obama seems like a great manager but a less than exciting leader.

but yes, he deserves another term...also...the republican primaries are going to be comedy gold.

Reporter: How do you feel about the recent rise of irresponsible sauce pan behaviour?
Interviewee:I hadn’t heard about it, to be honest
Reporter: Some of them are quite heavy, aren't they?
Interviewee: Especially the iron ones, we wouldn't purchase the heavier gauge
Reporter: Because of the danger?
Interviewee: Yes
Reporter: What to you would be irresponsibility in the area around a sauce pan?
Interviewee: The way you handle it of course, they are very heavy especially the cast iron ones
Reporter: And you shouldn't cast iron at people?
Interviewee: No
Reporter: Height above the ground is important, isn't it?
Interviewee: Yes, definitely
Reporter: What do you think is the worse thing that could happen around the house due to irresponsible sauce pan behaviour?
Interviewee: Well, if I had a heavy one, on a shelving system and it fell down....it'd do a bit of damage I reckon
Reporter: Do you think you would ever get up again?
Interviewee: No
Reporter: And what's the maximum height these things should be stored above the ground anyway?
Interviewee: Eye level
Reporter: What if you tied some helium balloons to the saucepan so if it did fall, it would fall slower?
Interviewee: That's a good idea
Reporter: How many balloons would you recommend?
Interviewee: Five

Yeah, I certainly would have bet on HRC at any point, and really, like 8 delegates in ND and MT are what fucked her chances.

I'm not convinced either side has an advantage at this point - especially because it's Barry v Repub to be name later. If it's an also ran I give him the advantage, but I think there's a Mitch Daniels or somewhat sensible Republican candidate that can run basically the same campaign Barry ran in 08 and possibly beat him.

It also will be very interesting to see which states end up as the deciders/swing. Like, FL is much closer to 50-50 than it's current state or federal representation would belie, whereas GA and TX are much more solidly Red than their census demographics are leading targeters to believe.

It's fucking early, I'm not super enamored of either side, and would love to blow my entire career and credibility on a third party candidate like Bloomberg. Just ask Ham Jordan, its doable.

Am I wrong to believe the repub strategy will to be throw "Change" in Obama's face. Like it's 4 years later, we're now in 3 wars, gitmo is still open, and the economy still sucks. Then Obama will pull the "hey, this country was a shithole when I found it" defense.

I mean, it seems that if any candidate goes full on Glen Beck, they are sure to lose for looking like bellvue escapee.

Obama = great manager? Really? Yikes.

The GOP ticket will be the person with the most charisma that will commit to repeal Obamacare. No one poised to run has the stones to propose any other meaningful cuts. The union-busting thing is small potatoes and not much more than scattered local issues. The tax issue will come up, but it won't be an election driver since anyone with a head on their shoulders knows that rates won't come down until the deficit is closed.

If Barry is re-elected, then it's a three year horse race among Repbulican governors to show the best state level results in advance of 2016. My money's on Christie.
