Why magiska had to go private.......
I can imagine many of you are sad, upset or angry at losing a music blog you really liked. We would have liked to announce ahead of time our plans to do so but that was impossible. Just the mention of it in shoutbox got everyone upset and we received mass e-mails and registration by people who we had no clue who they were. They could have been record labels or distributors for all we know.
Most of you do not know that a public magiska was getting harder to manage behind the scenes. We wanted our blog to be low profile but many things worked against us.
With twittering and Facebooking links and new aggregators taking content and making it available on google hourly, the administrators of magiska over the past 6 weeks spent more time putting out fires than having the time to focus on the music and having fun. Our links were getting killed and the labels were threatening us.
It's important to understand that if we can't verify who a person who visited our blog was (by posting comments or using shoutbox) then we don't know if we are inviting someone that has ill intentions. We are not elitists, we are survivalists. The magiska as you knew it is no longer the same. It is now very small and quiet.
The issues, problems and headaches of running a huge successful blog was getting harder and harder. We had over 110,000 individual visitors a month (and growing faster monthly) but very few ever posted a single shoutbox comment, message or thank you so we'd know who they were.
There was an enormous amount of work behind the scenes to have kept this blog running for over 17 months so successfully. It was growing by about 10,000 more users a month and simply was getting too big. That's a pretty long run for any full album music blog with this kind of traffic to have lasted. And this all occurred while having our google indexing turned off the entire time.
So I hope you enjoyed all our hard work and the music we offered while we were public. None of us got paid a penny and we had no ads. We worked hours a day on it. We did it to share our love for music and expose promising and talented artists. We are going private to save the blog we love. We are sorry that we could not have included every invite request at this time, but hope you will appreciate and leave comments on other blogs and forums you like. Blogs need feedback from their community.

Note there are fake sites out there offering invites. Please do not give them your information. They are fake scammers trying to take advantage of the situation. Be careful.
