OMG Z, like, Coachella is like soooo lame bro. I'd rather see bands in shitty little venues with a bunch of other chin scratchers. Such a better vibe brooo.

Car camping sold out in a record 12 hrs, but I'll be at a resort.

i don't really have a problem with coachella (or the idea of destination festivals). it is what it is. but i did think that poster was amusing.

I have a hard time picturing this in a festival atmosphere. I saw him a couple of times 2 or 3 years ago I guess it was, and even then in a really small venue the sound just didn't fill it, really neither did his stage presence. I like most of the stuff he has released and will admit the new stuff sounds a lot fuller so may be a lot bigger sound live, but still just can't picture it.

Would definitely like to hear a review of his/their (keep forgetting it's a no shit full band now) set from you when all is said and done.

That map does look stellar. Still waiting on those damn set times so I can whine about what I'll be missing...

I thought that poster was funny and while I don't have a problem with people going to festivals I also don't think there is anything wrong with preferring to see individual bands in a venue that does not feel like a day at the baseball game. I would absolutely prefer to spend what would generally amount to the same money to see 3-4 of my favorites off pretty much any festival list at a better venue where they are the central focus than hang around the park all day with thousands of other people and vaguely be aware that 47,000 bands are playing in the distance.

Interesting. I would much rather see a band in front of an energetic and pumped up crowd playing on the best sound systems in the world than see that same band in some club with a bunch of chin scratchers.

The energy and enthusiasm of 20,000 people is pretty fucking intense.

You act as if all bands agree with you, which is just complete crap. Some do, some don't. And, I could just as easily portray the people who go to those big festivals as a bunch of frat boy, rich kid wannabees who toss around hundreds of dollars just so they can check off their list of "cool" bands that they've seen with about as much accuracy as your chin scratchers comment...that being not much.

And if you like that atmosphere, I really don't give a fuck. But, there's nothing wrong with not wanting to be herded around a giant amphitheater outside in the hot sun and pay $7 for bottles of water and be partitioned far from the bands you came to hear. I'd rather enjoy a few good shows where I can show up for a good night of drinking and enjoying the music in a venue that provides what I want.

First off, who the fuck said bands agree with me? I didn't, but now that you mention it, I'm pretty damn sure they enjoy the energy they receive from a large audience.

You're getting offended by the chin scratcher comment. Are you one? While there are 'rich kids/folks' at Coachella, I can assure you there are plenty of people that are are not, and go because they love the atmosphere and seeing the bands they love play in a non-club setting. You seem bitter about music festivals. Smoke some weed brooooo.

Oh, and...

1. We're not herded
2. Water is free
3. You can get as close as you'd like to any band you want to see
4. Damn I look good with a sun tan

Not so much personally offended as just thought it was silly that you can't seem to take the fact that not everyone agrees that these festivals are the best way to see bands. I think it is the shittiest way to see bands, you don't. No biggie. I will say at least with these mega festivals as opposed to stuff like the older touring festivals at least most of the bands still continue to do normal tours and supplement them with the festivals. For a while it looked like festivals were becoming about the only way to see a lot of bands, which I thought sucked.

Dude, I'm saying it's a GREAT way to see bands, and I do often prefer it. Never did I say it's the 'best' way. I enjoy club shows as well.

I'd say Tame Impala. Oddly, I really like Ariel Pink but don't care for Tame Impala. Just don't think Ariel Pink's style will translate that well to a festival where Tame Impala's seems more appropriate to this venue. Just my $.02.
