Relieved to get that game 2 under our belt. That's the first game 2 Vancouver has EVER won against the Hawks in a playoff series. Maybe it's a good sign - although in the final five minutes the 'Nucks came close to looking like the chokers they were last year.

I figured all the other series in the West would be won by the favorites (Anaheim over Nashville, Detroit over Phoenix, San Jose over L.A.), and it still looks that way. I had similar predictions for the East but, man, Boston looked pretty bad in that series opener. Bad or nervous. Either way, they better pick it up if they hope to get through to the next round. Ditto Philly - looks like Buffalo will sneak this one out if Pronger doesn't get back soon. Pittsburgh/Tampa Bay is a pick'em, and I barely care which one gets through. And I'll be surprised at this point if NYR manage to win a game against Washington.

Yeah, this is disheartening. Tonight's loss is a tough one considering in the history of Boston Bruins 7-game series' they are 0 for 27 when they lose the first two games of the series.

yeah the hawks are looking like gigantic pussies. just getting the shit kicked out of them in every aspect. and why cant they make a simple pass? seems like every time its just bouncing off a skate or a stick. i'll give it to the canucks, they are fucking bringing it and are crazy good.

Meanwhile the Flyers have a goalie controversy on their hands which is definitely the first time that's ever happened. I wonder how many playoff series brian boucher has started as the backup and ended up as the starter and vica vera.

If RAPED means being handed ten free minutes of five on four, I'll take it any day.

On Saturday night, we had a handful of tornadoes in the hampton roads area and it caused quite a bit of damage. Nothing as extensive as in the midwest, but a few deaths, couple people missing, loads of home damage and power outages.

You may be wondering why I bring this up in the NHL thread, but yesterday FB blew up at about 4:30/5:00 because just after the Caps tied the game late in the third (with about 4:00 left) the local news station broke in to talk about the tornadoes and crazy weather from the day before. Just about everyone I knew watching the game was pissed because they gave viewers a tiny, muted box in the upper right corner of the screen to continue watching the game as they talked about a bunch of shit that they couldn't do anything about.

Then, of course, Brandon Shitinsky scores a really late 3rd period goal to win the game. I was working on my vegetable garden at the time so I wasn't subjected to the horror, but I think the local area nearly rioted. haha

They tried your idea re: John Scott. Good call.

And it was extremely gratifying this morning to hear Captain Serious whining about the Canucks not being "as good as they seem". I larfed.

Also, I'm voting for Rafi Torres for prime minister.

yeah actually, the john scott thing was a joke and i wasnt too excited when they actually did it. it reminded me of when the flyers brought in that greaseball carcillo last year and it did nothing and just reeked of desperation. oh well. again, if something like this is the price of winning the cup last year, then it's well worth it.

and i still cant figure out why they cant pass worth a good goddamn. or let alone hold onto the puck if they're by themselves. that's probably the most frustrating part about it.

OH WELL

Buff is the guy I think they miss more than anybody else this year.

The 2010 Canucks showed up. Totally crumbled and then took a tantrum. If they don't put this away in Game 5 I might put money on the Hawks making the comeback.

The two games in Chicago have seen a weird discrepancy in the amount of penalties called. Game 3 saw 2 penalties assessed to the Hawks and 7 to the Canucks, and Game 4 (as of the 13:00 minute mark of the 3rd period) has it at 5 for the Hawks and 10 to the Canucks. That's not exactly the way it should go.

The officiating has been disgraceful in this game, just as it was in the last one. Drives me mad when the refs feel the need to sway the outcome of the game. Often when the players do anything questionable during a game, they will review it afterwards and discipline accordingly. Why, when refs pull this shit, does nothing happen? Suspend them, fire them, discipline them in some way. We didn't play as well as we did all season to have some shitty refs fuck around with the game so much.

That said, the series is 3-1, Radcliffe. You can't be so quick to throw the Canucks under the bus. Yeah we played a bad game, but it's one game. We can't expect to sweep every series, especially since we're playing the defending Stanley cup champs. This time next week, we'll we looking forward to the next series, and the Hawks will be on the golf course, guaranteed.
