With just the touchstone terms above I easily predicted the 8 Obners that would be all over this, despite any question of quality.

For what it's worth, this guy sounds better than the shit you guys usually froth over.

Yeah, because I could never predict something would be in your wheelhouse by a description. :wanker: Mr. Pot have you met Mr. Kettle?

And I actually like it because it is so well executed.

The difference is there's one of me and eight of you, and you guys go totally apeshit over any album that sounds exactly like the last one you all went apeshit over.

Which one was the last one I joined the circle jerk on?

So it makes a difference that there is group of people who have similar tastes instead of just one person. I fail to see the problem there. Wait, you mean it's crazy that I come to a music board looking for recommendations from people who have similar tastes in music as me, and then actually like those recommendations. Fuck me, man. I'm glad you don't participate in those kinds of bullshit by blogging your recommendations on a music blog or anything.

But I'll put up my shmoo poll lists against any of the group of 8 and I bet there's not as much overlap as you're claiming.

I'm the only one that has really gone apeshit over this though and I'd challenge you to find the last album I went apeshit over. I'd practically given up on new music the past few years. Also, there's not 7 boarders that really have that similar taste to mine although I knew that this would probably be up the alley of about 5-10 people which is the whole reason why I posted it. Isn't that what the board is supposed to be all about?

I'm not sure which is least surprising jerkface being a jerk or you liking this less than me although you seem to at least acknowledge that it's a pretty well-executed album even if it's not that much up your alley.

Are people still needing a reup of this? I could do it and pm anyone the link at some point this weekend. Now I'm off to the beach. It's 90 here and I have better things to do than fight over an album. I think it's a great one. If I'm alone on that, I don't really care that much.

This is in my general cup of tea. I don't need to be floored every time I put something on and this fits naturally in my catalog of this genre and well done at that. That being said, glad billyg found something worth his while considering he admitted to have been somewhat uninspired lately. When nothing clicks for a time it can feel pointless searching so its nice when it happens. I've been there and can get behind that.

And to Rad's point I certainly look to recs or reviews from active posters on different genres. Being that certain folks go apeshit over certain music gives me an idea where I stand in any particular genre. Surprise, I'm some kind of middling extreme.

Some good moments, but not really blown away. A little too traditional in spots for me, perhaps.

"Time Forgot (To Change My Heart)" is seriously great as well as the first 3 songs. I think the album fades a little on the back end. But Paul and Jon is a stand out on that back side. I like Daniel the most when he sings in a deeper voice like on "Time Forgot."

Time Forgot IS the first song. Did your sequencing get screwed up or did you mean another song? For me, "There are Lines In My Face" is the best song on the album followed by the first three. I like Paul and Jon as well. There's a little dip in energy in the middle for me although I pretty much at least somewhat like everything on the album and I think it finishes pretty strong.

I wrote that wrong. Should have wrote as well as the next 2 songs. "These are Lines..." is great too and I think it's going to be a deep cut that rewards more listens. There's nothing I skip on the album. It just loses my full attention a little on the second half. But I really like it. If it is not in my top 5 at the end of the year, then 2011 will be the best year in music for me in a long time. And I'm not got going to apologize for being enthusiastic about discovering well-crafted a country album from an artist I never heard of before. It's not the new Beady Eye single mining same old Beatles songs where Oasis left off in 1996 but they all can't make music like that. But I guess I'm suppose to apologize when 2 or more Obners both really like an album.

Even when that happens, I think we can all agree that The EP Was Better.

I'm seriously impressed with this. #1 with a bullet. I haven't been this excited by an album I wasn't anticipating since Joe Pisapia's Daydreams and this might be the better of the two. The first three songs are amazing, then there's a little dip then it picks right back up again. Album of the year so far easily. Maybe album of the decade. The worst thing I can say about it is that its going to take me out of my comfort curmudgeon zone and I'm probably going to end up listening to a lot more crap as a result of fearing missing another album like this one. Holy moly though if that review sounds good to you, download it immediately.

i listened to it, enjoyed it, and it even has a legitimate shot to make my year-end list

but middle brother and hayes carll are WAYYYYYYYYYYYY better

Look at Sr. Sensitivo RParsi over here.

This is pretty good. Is quite similar to that Mike Stinson to my ears. I do see it as right up BG's alley, though.
