What a fun film! I saw it this past weekend for the first time since it was released and it holds up well.

I remember when it came out there was some criticism of "the band" for reasons I can't remember. I think it had something to do with the fact that it wasn't that they couldn't play soul music but that they shouldn't or some kind of nonsense

Great performances by an unknown cast and I particularly like Colm Meany's Elvis worshipping Dad-I like the little touches like the fact that he has put up pictures of Jesus and Elvis side by side as equals.

Probably more profanity than Scarface but that's part of it's charm.

What the hell ever happened to the cast?

Steve

I think it's a great movie as well.

Back when I had long hair I looked a bit like the lead singer. Great film.

One of my favorite films. Absolutely love this movie. I have the soundtrack and once upon a time had the film on VHS but lost it.

It's one of those movies that you can still watch over and over and not get sick of.

Been years since I've seen it, and after I found out, never could correlate which character he played (maybe the one who was always using his head to bash others with?), but Glen Hansard is alive and well as the front man for The Frames.

Yeh. Great movie.
And they do a damn good version of "Dark End Of the Street" – one of my favorite songs, ever.
