The The: Soul Mining

My favorite The The album and it's really not even close. This one's an old, comfortable friend. I play this thing and as soon as This is The Day comes in with "you didn't wake up this morning because you didn't go to bed, you were watching the whites of your eyes turn red," I'm staring out a window in the early morning, just home and still not to bed, still chatting on a couch, red-eyed, blurry and hopeful. Remembering that feeling alone makes this a personal classic. Uncertain Smile, the title track, GIANT, all stunningly good songs.

It won't sway anyone not already on their side, but it's up to their usual high standard of melodicism and smartassery.
