The Bengals really like Bulldogs.
I wish they would have gotten something they needed instead of the best player out there.

The talent Mark Richt has had at UGA is impressive.

Patrick Peterson to the Cards. Meh.

I'm watching it as well, since it is like a religious holiday for me.
I'm hoping Amukamara gets picked sooner rather than later, but I don't really care who picks him.
I'm really waiting to see if Alex Henery is the first kicker picked in the draft, preferably in the 3rd Round tomorrow night.

I wish they had learned their fucking lesson already.

Also, as I said in a text convo with Bloor and Scotty D - we've come a long way from Randy Moss falling all the way to #17 what with Cam going #1 and all.

I also definitely would have traded down if I had the #1 pick - too many "potential" stars but certainly not many proven winners with the skill set to play as an NFL QB.

I bet Cam is a TGonz-esque tight end for another team in say, 2017.

And he's squandered most of it.

I wanted AJ here in Nashville with the Titans, but we get Bengals games a lot in our market, so I'll get to keep up with AJG.

I need Dr. Mike to tell me a little bit more about Jake Locker. Where has DreadedMarco been anyway?

Good article in last week's SI. True Blue Honky of the highest order - in the great kid/good family way. Stayed his senior year. Great athlete, a little short by NFL standards. Lots of upside.

Will have to seek it out. He came out with a camo hat from his Washington home, so he'll fit in Tennessee just fine.

How about Julius Jones for the 'Coons?

Locker ran for his life @ washington. Plays similar to favre.

Love the saints moving back in the first round to grab ingram. Finally have a legit running game.

i just really, really dont know about that Jake Locker pick. If you can't complete a high percentage in the Pac-10, well, you are not very accurate.

He is a superior athlete with unbelievable raw talent and a work ethic second to none. He would have been drafted as a safety, fullback and flanker if he had chosen to play those positions in college. Not to mention he was drafted by the Angels as an outfielder two years ago. Not a bad place to start.

That being said, he did have some accuracy issues and his decision making has been questioned. Some of that is likely due to a lack of talent surrounding him at UW over the past 4 years. His O-line was one of the worst in the conference and his receivers led the league in dropped passes. Having Ty Willingham as his coach for his first two seasons didn't help him either.

He does have a lot to learn, but given the right coaching and adequate time, he could prove to be quite good. By all reports, under the tutelage of Ken OBrien, his improvement from the end of the season to now has been remarkable. If he's thrown to the wolves
as a rookie he will struggle.

I'm a lifelong Husky fan and Jake Locker is a top 5 favorite player for me. I'm hoping for the best for him. And the Titans just became my 2nd favorite team in the NFL.

This was a great move. That dude fell too far - he wins a Heisman at Alabama, and his dad was in the league. He understands how to handle the pressure, plus he gets to go to a team with many other offensive options, and doesn't have to carry the load.

I'm not sure on the Julio thing. Dude went buck in that blackout game, which is one of the only times I really watched him. He's huge, he's played more high pressure games than AJ, and he got away with a make work job on some booster's boat, and thus didn't completely fuck up his team's season by being a selfish piece of shit.

But they gave up a fuck lot to get him with a 1st and 4th rounder next year. But dues is huge, mean, motivated, and like Mark Ingram, has played in what amounts to a pro team environment. In fact, I would go so far as to say that as a Bammer you have more scrutiny and pressure to perform than your average NFL player not in NY, DC, Dallas, etc.

Have we really though? Look at Ryan Mallett.

As for the Falcs, I had heard as far back as last week that they were looking to trade into the top of the draft to get AJ Green and they reportedly almost pulled it off--the deal with the Bengals fell apart at literally the last minute...So was the Jones thing a fall back they had anticipated all along or a desperation move? Who knows. Julio will get plenty of chances to prove that he was worth it playing with Roddy. If it fails, then you've mortgaged a lot, and Dimitroff might be on the greased rail back to mowing Bellichik's lawn. The one thing that has always jumped out to me about AJ is how skinny his legs are; Julio does seem (at this point anyway) more built for the pro game

I do think Mr. Blank must have an inclination as to how this work stoppage is going to pan out (that there will be some sort of temporary agreement reached and they will play under the 2010 (read: no cap) rules), and is hoping he can go scoop up a defensive stud or two in free agency. I do believe this whole thing is a "let's win NOW" move.

I'd love to throw cold water on the Saints fans and tell them that Mark Ingram never averaged more than 15 carries a game, wasn't even the best RB on his team and will certainly not be helped by Reggie Bush leaving, but I've got to admit, dude has always seemed like one of those immeasurable "football players" and a good guy to boot.

I'll see your Ryan Mallett, & raise you Jimmy Smith. Second coming of Rae Carruth.

Mallett? He'll just be the new Art Schlichter.

I like it. We gave up some picks but if we are to believe the Falcs are truly a stable franchise and built for the long haul then we should expect to be picking towards the bottom of the 1st round again next year. I think Julio is a stud. I love that Kiper said he was "the best blocking receiver he's ever graded". I love receivers who take as much pride in their blocking as catching the ball. He reminds me of a future hall of famer playing in Pittsburgh right now.

Still, as a long suffering Falcs fan, the destruction of our D by Aaron Rodgers gives me pause on this pick.

We'll see. I hate people who grade this shit hours after it happened anyway.

Gabbert will be good, mostly due to his situation now at Jacksonville. One year to sit behind Garrard and learn the new playbook (and un-learn the spread @ Mizzou).

That being said, I really like Jake Locker. Probably a reach by Tennessee, but I have nothing but hope that he will succeed. Like that kid a lot (despite his beating Nebraska in his second chance last year).

Detroit adding Fairley to Suh & Vanden Bosch on the DL... wow! I would not want to play OL, RB or QB against the Lions anytime in the near future.

Amukamara to the Giants was a steal. He will be a lockdown corner almost immediately. Great pick (of course, I'm biased as a Husker fan, but still).

Whoever picks Ryan Williams from V. Tech in the 2nd round today will get the steal of the day. And, I, like Promethium, will be watching with great interest how high Alex Henery (THE BEST KICKER IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY) goes.

6'6" with a cannon, drops the first SEC bowl appearance to Ohio State since before the Civil War (or something like that). I don't think it was the stench of sorry on him, more the stench of a dude who just isn't as good as he might be billed. They put these fuckers through a battery of tests, and then make the best decision based on their knowledge at the time.

He's a permmullet away from this guy:

I heard it was the stench of the yayo that backed people off. Dude is an all world talent, dad is a coach, and he allegedly likes to play football (unlike, say, Ryan Leaf); he just might have a ten cent head or like to get fucked up (same thing hpnd to Marino, amirite?)

I would have drafted him over Newton though.

So you're saying he's Todd Marinavich? Fuck, I'd love to have that dude on my team when he's not on the nod.

Yeah, like I said, I think the Panthers were in a shitty spot - they really fucking need a QB, and it's not like The D is going to trade Staff to them for Pooh Bear Fairley. That said, I think whoever ends up as that pick is the next Akili Smith (gaah!).

I woulda taken my lumps with Faildozer Jimmy Clausen for another year, drafted one of those defensive studs like Dareus or Peterson (because if you can't slow down the NO, ATL, & TB offenses you aren't doing shit anyways) and pray for a better QB class or the kid from Stanford next year.

This. If you are going to start a rookie quarterback, you should be prepared to have that year as a rebuilding year and allow him to play in his sophomore year before you yank him. (Plus they have Pike as a backup who I think would have been just as adequate as Jimmy.)

Happy with the Jimmy Smith Ravens pick. I think if he can be mentored by some vets he could be a steal. As many have said, he's a elite and its a position we need badly.

There was an article about this guy who scouts on the Yahoo football blog, and he said that Locker is just like Farve. Runs, throws, and mechanics are the same. Hope he has that amazing of a career...but we'll see.
