I went to bed midway through the third before Toews' goal. I was happy in one sense that VAN pulled it off, but so disappointed that CHI didn't pull off the win just so it could take away the attention from the Bruins ECF crumble last year.

Bruins are now 0-6 when able to eliminate their opponent in the post-season. haha

Weird thing is we haven't heard ANY of those kinds of comments in this market. All I've heard is respect for the Hawks. Even Luongo's comment about it being a greater moment for him than the Olympics is clearly proof that he felt the Hawks were an enormous mental/physical challenge for the team to overcome. And I can't even imagine Hank Sedin saying that line, especially given the fact that Bolland turned him into a little girl for 4 games.

As for Gillis, everything he said was 100% true. I'm still a bit shocked at how sports pundits everywhere were calling for a 20 game suspension for Raffi Torres for his hit on Seabrook, and yet not even a penalty was called when Bickell took it one step further on Bieksa. But then again, paranoia over officiating is part and parcel of being a Canucks fan.

But, now I can say "Go Canucks."

I always find this sentiment weird, because I'd never say "Go Penguins/Steelers/Yankees/Red Sox" etc after they beat my team.

It's more for the long-suffering fans than anything else. As a Cubs fan, I can empathize.

Definitely. Add him to the core group of Toews, Kane, Keith, and Seabrook, and then take into account his cap hit (which is virtually nothing) and the Hawks have room to make some personnel moves this summer that should see them challenging for the Cup again next year.

The ways the dominoes have fallen, it looks like this might finally be the Sharks year. I think they'll beat either Van. or Nashville, and I can't see anyone left in the East even getting a series to 5 games against them.

Well, now the chances of an Eastern Conference team I will be happy to root for making the Stanley Cup finals has been dropped to 66%. Of course, that's just based on the fact that I'll be happy with 2 of the three teams left with a chance. It doesn't include Boston's potential to lose the next 4 games in a row for a consecutive year of total failure. So, technically, I am one game away from my chances being 100%. While I want Boston to go the whole way, if they happen to get beat by TBL, I won't be too sad.

Hey rads, can you recommend a reasonably priced, but highly delicious, place to eat in Yaletown?

There's the Yaletown Brewery and Milestones, but I'd recommend walking a couple extra blocks and finding Johnny Fox's on Granville (at Helmcken, I think). It's a small (tiny) Irish pub with great food and awesome beer.
