Announced today. Know some of you care, somewhat.

2-day festival to celebrate the band's 20th year will be held in Wisconsin at Alpine Valley. I guess taking cues from Phish?

Anyway, for all the build-up around this thing the lineup is kinda meh.

PJ
The Strokes
QOTSA
Mudhoney
John Doe
Joseph Arthur
Glen Hansard
Liam Finn

No Soundgarden. :?:

Tickets are only being sold through the Ten Club at the moment are $334.00/weekend which gets you 2 reserved seats for one night and then 2 GA tix for the other.

They are doing all the travel packages/shuttles/etc so who knows how much the band is making off this.

Almost $350 for THAT fucking lineup?

And this is the band that used to make a big deal about how Ticketmaster was raping the fans?

Did Joseph Arthur do anything worthwhile besides that album from like 2001

That's actually $83.50.

I'd LOVE to see a QOTSA w/ Mudhoney tour though. I'd pay $50 to see them.

The further frustration is that they have these package deals so that you can just get tickets and lodging in one bump.

Problem is, as my friend enlightened me to--to stay on premise+tickets comes to $1800. So, $600/person. That's the cheap one.

Absolutely agree. I refused to pay the $70-80 EV tix were on tours--solo. PJ tickets were pretty on-par with most acts in arenas so, I was willing to hit them up once every 2-3 years.

Still, they put on one heck of a show--and while I know like 75% would disagree--for a band celebrating its 20th anniversary, they're still putting out decent music.

I have a feeling I'll be going since I have good friends that are crazy PJ fans and it's close enough.

If Eddie could convince Sleater-Kinney to reform, a last hurrah, I would be on this quicker than I can drive to Alpine Valley.

In the event, I'm not. Though I'm sure the Strokes fanboys on Obner are priapistic. Plus, for a few of them, add the Queens of the Stone Age, &, well -- shots to the dong for everyone (to relieve swelling).

This was the hope of my one friend.

I was hoping for Neil Young, SY and Soundgarden. I even harbored a thought that maybe...just maybe Pete Townshend would be on the bill.

For all the lead-up, the speculation, and the fanboy board musings, it just kinda hit with a thud.

Now, watch Cornell show up and PJ and him do the entire Temple of the Dog album

With Alpine being so close to Chicago, I wouldn't be surprised to see some guests from down that way (Liz Phair, Billy Corgan, Kanye, Lupe Fiasco). Maybe a Garbage/Butch Vig cameo coming down from Madison, too.

Somehow, too, I doubt the list you posted is complete. Seems a little thin, after PJ, Strokes, Queens. Joseph Arthur? Liam Finn? That dude from the movie Once?

Tickets go on sale for Ten Club members on May 23... general public June 4.

If, by June 4, the lineup is bigger with some of the suggestions made earlier in this thread, maybe I'll consider. But that price tag is looking way too steep right now.

Nice that it's close to me though...

You'll always have Country Thunder to check out, later in the summer.

Good times.

It will be Liz Phair & Kanye doing a "Fuck n' Run/Golddigger" medley, backed by Jeff Ament & Matt Cameron doing their best, slinky rhythm work.

Also, robotboy, I used those as examples of possible regional inclusions. But even with, say, a Corgan cameo, would still be pretty thin gruel for the price.

Needs more Sleater-Kinney. Seriously.

Gotta be in the 25% then. I think Backspacer is the best stuff they've done in probably ten years.

edit: went back and looked. yep, best think imo since Yield (1998).
