MAIM | KØPI Berlin

great show! a small metal/punk club in a basement, 5 EUR and maybe 50 people there. the guys from the band are actually totally unevil and didn't match my image of them at all from just listening to the album. I mean I expected some derelict dudes with filthy long hair and a couple of bottles of booze on stage, growling all the time for blood, satan and related stuff between the songs.

Maim, along with Miasmal, Feral, Bastard Priest, and other newer Swedish DM bands don't put on the "totally eeeevil" front, which is great. They just rip through their songs.

I cannot wait to hear what they've come up with on the new Opeth. for some reason I think it might be surprisingly heavier.

Decent pre-sales. PR Campaign has just begun so I think we are gonna be alright. They are gonna do some shows opening for Rosetta on the east coast which is huge....and we take it from there...fingers crossed.

I've read somewhere that there won't be any death growls on the new opeth and that it's going to have some increased fusion touch. whatever that means.

the køpi is actually one of the last squatted houses here, and it's in Mitte, close to Ostbahnhof. don't know if that gives you some orientation. my last photo posted on instagram shows the building. it's the same location where I saw Martyrdöd.

just said goodbye to my friend jared today. he was my pal from way back in the little ol' muncie metal scene...we used to flyer the shit out of the city in our 20s. booked the likes of phobia, AxCx and hundreds of others. brilliant guitar player, tour manager, van driver and one hell of a solid dude. you know you've made your mark when necrobutcher puts a flower on your grave.

I think I heard one album some years ago but I can't really remember how it was. which might actually be related to the fact that I never listened to it again. aren't they connected to this manga scene?
