homemade mayo is one of life's great simple pleasures. my favorite summer meal is a SILF of white bread slathered w/ homemade mayo, sliced creole tomatoes, salt & pepper.

Apparently, this is a pretty accurate representation of what Seal Team 6 was wearing when they got Bin Laden.

Going for brunch this morning at a new Jewish deli in the South Loop called 11 City Diner. A friend of mine is the GM there and I've heard really good things about it, all-around. Maybe I'll call my parents and meet them there!

It's weird spending the fourth of july in another country. Today is also my birthday, and I think it will be the first one where I didn't go watch fireworks.

I love my typewriter. I've found that I think differently when typing on it - It forces me to form complete sentences in my mind. Mistakes sometimes force me to follow strange paths that I'd otherwise just backspace away.

More than a year and a half after its release, Chicken just got another review. Weird.
From illinoisentertainer.com:
Quote:
Chicken On A Bicycle, the second effort from Hop On Pop, holds up well considering guitarist Todd Leiter-Weintraub confesses to having “indulged every little whim and odd thought” in putting it together. There’s plenty of genre-hopping, from the harrowing acoustic tale of an abusive husband on “C’mon Angel” to the new-wave silliness of “Here.” Leiter-Weintraub gravitates toward the absurd, particularly on the acoustic “Sheila Of The Worms.”

A good review or just damned with faint praise?
Either way, it's nice to get a bit more ink. It's been dribbling in for some time now.

Speaking of Sriracha, your boy Carson brought me Sriracha salt that he made per the cookbook--shit is good.

I could not believe how many fireworks and guns were going off last night. It started at dusk and went on for over 2 hours, from areas all around me. It was continuous, too. Sounded like a fucking Michael Bay movie.

I guess when times are tough, people go shopping for fireworks. In Mexico.

This is impressive:

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -
It's no secret that area law enforcement are out in full force this holiday weekend, but apparently several people did not get the memo.

According to State Police Thomas Hunt, 22, of Lake Charles, was arrested twice Saturday for DWI within three hours. Hunt was pulled over for speeding around 7:20 a.m. Troopers said he blew .148. Hunt was charged with DWI 2nd offense and released in the care of a relative because of lack of jail space.

Less than three hours later troopers clocked Hunt on a motorcycle going 89 miles per hour in a 60 mile per hour zone on I-210. At that time he blew .128. Hunt was arrested and booked into the jail with DWI 3rd offense.

we had to boost our garbage pickup from once to twice a week solely due to the amt of bags of shit (literally) we throw in there from the dog and the baby. we started out with just once a week but it was summer and there were a shit load of flies in my garage. opened up the can and fucking maggots EVERYWHERE getting their eat on. i barfed, then took the can outside. maggots started falling off onto the sidewalk where armies of ants were waiting to jump on them and rip them to shreds.

it was gross.

I just started with the recycling when they put the single stream dumpsters out behind my place. First thing I figured out was...get a smaller garbage can.
