Alright duder. This is a fairly recent pick so if you've heard it I've got a couple other options.

Carolyn Mark & NQ Arbuckle - Let's Just Stay Here

Image

RIYL: Earnest alt-country, honky tonks, heartbreak

Pairs well with: Cold domestic, dusk, long drives

PM's sent.

Yeah Bloor. I definitely slept on this one in '09. I hadn't even heard of it until Kingfish posted it in the "Albums you didn't get into until 2010..." or something thread.

Although, upon searching too see if Patrick had ever mentioned it here it appears Rads was on it that year.

Yep. Good record. Lovely harmonies. Dusty & well-worn. Carolyn is also the other half of the Corn Sisters with that other broad, Neko, what's her name.

Good pick Derris.

"Goddamn, my liver when it's thirsty, goddamn my wallet when it is dry..."

Yeah, Rads recommended it first but I didn't give it enough attention until later when Too Sober To Sleep and When I Come Back suckered punched me in the gut.

It's the one-two punch of "Officer Down" and "The Second Time" that slays me, but it's all really well done.

Dump Jack and I also went on a marathon run through the NQ Arbuckle catalog last year and it's pretty solid.

"Drunk while you are asleep, sneak around the bed like a burgler..."

Great tunes. Those were growers on me and Officer Down might be the best song on the album. This is one of my favorite albums of the last 3 years. Probably in the top 5 for the last 3 years.

DJ hooked me up w/ those NQ Arbuckle albums and they're very solid. NQ just sounds like he's got the scars of hard living.

Rads had an NQ song on I believe the 2nd Slowcore Monger Project Series. And DJ put me on these albums as well.

But it certainly all clicked with inclusion on Yail's 2010 year end mix. After that and his first half 2011, I might just give up on new albums and wait to pick out what I like, ala the rest of our friends.

i'm not here much lately, what's the deal with these threads? Are people just picking people or are they paired up?
