I had a fruit fly issue too. Found out a good way to get rid of them, WITHOUT using any sort of poison:
Get a 1 or 2 liter bottle of soda. When it's about 1/2 full, just leave it out -- open, in the middle of the kitchen.
The fruit flies will be attracted to the sweet, syrupy liquid and then, unable to get back out through the small opening, they will get trapped in the bottle and eventually just die/drown in there. Then, just dump out the fly-infested liquid, and toss the bottle.
Only takes a day or two, and requires no poisons to get rid of them.
Works like a charm.

Wine or liquid soap dollop in a bowl of water will work as well.

I did this, where I stopped up the kitchen sink and put soapy water in it, but the fucker drains slowly even when it's stopped up so I don't know if I really caught any. Taking the trash out helped (duh).

Also there's a downside to recycling or composting everyfuckingthing. The trash bag stays put for like 3 weeks, so anything that IS in there that fruit flies like, they get a gooooood long chance at. So then they breed. Once a quarter I have an all-out battle with a spray bottle of stainless steel cleaner and some windex... looks like today's the day.

we had to boost our garbage pickup from once to twice a week solely due to the amt of bags of shit (literally) we throw in there from the dog and the baby. we started out with just once a week but it was summer and there were a shit load of flies in my garage. opened up the can and fucking maggots EVERYWHERE getting their eat on. i barfed, then took the can outside. maggots started falling off onto the sidewalk where armies of ants were waiting to jump on them and rip them to shreds.

it was gross.

that sounds like a scene from a lucio fulci film.

Mentally disabled man beaten for saying, “Hey, I like your shirt”

By Kevin Rincon

Jacksonville, FL —

A Publix employee was attacked after complimenting a man with a Georgia Bulldogs T-shirt.

26-year-old James Wall said, “Hey, I like your shirt,” and that’s all it took for Ryan Keys to beat Wall outside of a Northside Publix.

The attack happened Friday at the Publix on Duval Station Road, but the details were not made public until recently.

Our news partner Channel 4 says Wall, the mentally disabled man was punched in the face so hard it knocked his two front teeth out; the teeth were found 10-12 feet from where he was laying.

Police described Keys as 6’4, 275 lbs.

Keys fled the scene in his brother’s car. Police later arrested the attacker at their home and was charged with aggravated battery and resisting arrest.

UGA fan ultra-sensitive to "possible" sarcasm because he lives in Gator country? Also, beating up a MR Publix employee... See you in hell Ryan Keys.

Stuck in my head, right now: Apollo 440's version of the Lost in Space end theme, as heard in the '98 movie of same name (Matt Le Blanc! Lacey Chabert! Gary Oldman! Heather Graham! Mimi Rogers! Jack Johnson! (Not that one.)).

Those Salomon SX-91s are more frightening than the vast expanse of grey fur.

Tahoe maybe, circa 1985?
