I think I'm gonna skim through the 2k lp collection
drink a lot of malbec and glenlivet
force myself to listen to a lot of stuff I haven't investigated
and maybe get something productive done.
but i might not. and no one will care.

tailgate at an art center? it makes sense.
..maybe that's what the scene is missing.

Tonight - head out to a show downtown. I'm helping a friend book a new joint, so this is something of a scouting/recruiting mission
Tomorrow - Interviews scheduled throughout the day for a fucking gantlet of stories I have due by Monday. Try to knock some of them out before heading to the club to oversee a show I put kinda together. Probably write while I'm there.
Sunday - By the end of the day I will likely have written 7,000 or so words.

I'm not gonna leave my apt unless I need to go to Sam's Club and stock up on hummus.

Lay flat on my back and moan. Pills, whiskey, repeat.

I had a rare "I'm tapping out and going home" yesterday at the warehouse. I wasn't like, falling out or anything; it was more a "this is stupid, i'm the boss, it's motherfucking Friday and by the way, it's fucking hot" moment.

We havent hit 90 yet. Maybe 6 or 7 days above 80. Unusual, but I'm ok with it. Just hope we get some real summer at some point.

I fucking sweated through my dress shirt the other morning and had to sit at my desk like a bad Larry David sketch waiting to happen hoping no one would come in before it dried. Mission successful, but DAYUMN!

Depends on the day of the week but yeah, more than six hours outside. I only have one "inside day" a week and the rest I'm sort of floating depending on what needs to be done.

But I'm not trying to compete with someone who carries mail in the winter in the Northeast. For that, you're a tough fucking hombre in my book.

For the record: I pay people (hourly, no benefits) to work outside for me.

(spoiler alert) I think Cats' bachelor party was the most time I've spent outdoors in 2 years.
I've logged maybe 40 hours outside since the first of the year.
And half of that was spent shoveling snow.

I endured and damaged the shit out of my skin sitting on a tractor driving around in circles under the blazing sun without protection for 10 years of my youth.
The more 34 year olds I see with melanoma, the less time I want to spend outside -- on top of the fact that I'm basically Conan O'Brien white and don't really enjoy any activities outside that don't include recreational drinking...

This weekend (starting tomorrow), amongst other things, is going to include a lot of cooking.

Tomorrow evening: Making tacos with a Cuban pork shoulder that's been marinating in a citrus and savory spiced bath for 3 days and cooking slowly in my oven for the past 6 hours (3 to go). Going to shred that pork this evening. Tomorrow I'm going to take those shreds of pork that have sat overnight in a garlic, onion and citrus reduction, heat it and crisp it up on a griddle, and then lay it on a scant bed of black beans and rice topped with a tomatillo salsa and crema on top of a doubled corn tortilla.

Friday: More tacos: This time fish tacos. Deep fried catfish and fried avocado topped with fresh cabbage, hot sauce, a squirt of lime and a dollop of crema on a flour tortilla.

Saturday morn: Bread pudding with a scotch-butter sauce.

Lunch/dinner I'm going to replicate this:
http://aht.seriouseats.com/archives/201 ... ashup.html

with homemade potato rolls, "special sauce" I made a week ago to develop, and freshly ground round steak (in my kitchen) mixed with a quarter pound of ground bacon.

probably some quick homemade guac for a side

Sunday: Deep dish spinach, onion and garlic pizza cooked in a 17 inch cast iron skillet. The trick is laminating the crust to produce a pizza with a buttery flaky crust better than the ridiculously over-priced Chicago deep dish pizzas that average $20 -- for a total cost of around $5:

http://www.thefoodspot.com/2010/03/02/d ... ago-style/

With the unlimited beer, wine and booze supply in the background, already made simple syrup and sour mix, random travels on public transportation..bikes, flasks and maybe some thai or vietamese food, it should be a solid weekend.

Oh and any recommendation to modify or accentuate the meals would be appreciated.

Send me some of your blood along with your "parents" and I could figure it out.

I will ship my parents separately by UPS Ground. If I ship them in the same package, they may kill each other before arrival. The blood will be sent via FedEx.
