re: http://bnbjoint.com/

They all look like hockey puck burgers full of too much meat.
If I want a steak I'll eat a steak. If I want a burger, I want a balance of flavors.
Not saying it's not good; but I wouldn't pay excessive amounts of money for too much "manly" meat.

...and holy shit. that website is horrific.
Their beer selection: garbage. it's all heavily marketed shit with a high profit margin.
Enjoy your hyped-up mediocrity. This is all just carny fare.

i'm sure the atmosphere and selection sells that place..
but
enough with the fried egg and "unique" shit on a burger.

in regards to the fried egg, the yolk is the selling point, right?
just put the yolk on the burger or
use that same yolk in a more productive fashion as a homemade mayo with the opportunity to develop a more complex profile.
but most people don't know what mayonnaise actually is outside of a jar in their fridge.
Hellman's is great in certain situations, but doesn't come close to its possibilties as a condiment.
and the nice thing about mayo is that it melts with heat of the meat soaking into the bun and becoming confluent with the meat juices.
you don't have to bite through a chewy egg white and a drippy egg yolk.
but a well-executed mayo is not a good menu selling point since people think it's just supermarket mayo mixed with whatever.

I guess the more annoying things you can put on a burger to acknowledge you're eating something different, the better it is?

I happen to agree with you on the mayo point.
But, I like the fried egg on the burger. It's yummy.

Homemade Mayo is great, you can really mess with the tanginess and doctor it up a bit or go straight to an aioli.

Your post reminded me of a debate among friends a while back. I think half of us liked Mayo and the others hated it. I even saw a Miracle Whip commercial playing on that divide recently, which I thought was an odd scheme.

Miracle Whip is an affront to humanity.

I love making my own mayo. Sriracha+lime is my jam.
