I support this. Some forget that Clemson and Atlanta are equidistant to Athens, so the rivalry and recruiting war should still exist.

The Florida game was when Steve Superior ran the flee flicker with less than 2:00 on the clock to be the first to hang fifty on UGA in Sanford. Fuck that game, him, the Gators, the university and the entire fucking godforsaken fucking state of Florida.

We stand in agreement.

Still, to be fair, he was getting pelted from about 6 stories down with ice, bourbon, coke, and plastic cups heading into the locker room.......at HALFTIME.

The Braves winning the World Series later that same day cushioned the blow a bit (for me at least).

And yeah, Butch Davis DEAD DONE. Being called cheaters offends the sensibilities of the Tar Baby faithful...I was actually surprised they didn't fire him a year ago when that shit first broke.

Also, was Googling to get some more info on Pollack being on GameDay this year and stumbled on a Vols board where about five pages of people were hollerin' "I ain't watchin' me no GameDay no more if they got that Pollock on there!"

This is probably the worst time to fire a coach. I really don't understand the decision to fire him now. It doesn't save them from any sort of probation and punishment, and really fucks over any recruit who came there with the belief that he had successfully avoided being the next Tressel. They should have fired him after the season ended last year, and accepted that this year was a rebuilding year. UNC could have said he underachieved with all that talent and that he lacked the sort of institutional control they expect at Chapel Hill. Now, it seems like they are writing off the College Football season for 2011 and merely waiting for College Hoops to begin.

Also, my 21st birthday. The last thing I remember from that day was standing on a bar stool in Uptown lounge and falling off head first. Luckily it was so crowded it was like crowd surfing and about 4 people cushioned my fall. Then, darkness washed over the Derris......

This is pretty much the same reaction from every UNC fan I've read on Twitter or FB. The timing makes no sense. And it screws over all of the incoming recruits and kids there who didn't have dealings with agents or received improper benefits.

That being said, my popcorn's popped and I have been enjoying the show since yesterday afternoon.

Considering how mediocre they've been, even with all of these alleged violations, I don't blame her. Even the NCAA Notice of Allegations that came in June barely registered on the national sports scene.

Not that State's been much better in recent memory, but they do have a 4 game winning streak against UNC so there's that.

My family and I scored tickets to the first Husker game of the season against FCS level opponent Chattanooga. I would prefer to see a better quality opponent, but I'm not going to complain after not being able to procure tickets through the university last season. I look forward to getting up early on September 3rd to prime myself for a 2:30pm kickoff.

Our place at the beach has community grills so you always end up down there striking up conversations with random folks. Talked to this huge Razorbacks fan one night who COULD NOT understand the hate for Petrino. Even when I said I was a big Falcons fan, he didn't get it. Blinders.

I'm a huge Carolina fan and could not give two shits about the football team, or college football in general. This is the first I'm hearing about the Butch Davis thing and I really didn't remember who he was.

For some reason it just dawned on me that we need to be like a 6.5 dog to Boise State to properly motivate our team, and demotivate their team.

How is VT in the top 25 and they don't play one ranked team?

Perception is reality in CFB. Beamer has earned the benefit of the doubt.

I'm on record as HATING pre-season polls. They mean nothing and can have negative effect on teams wanting to move up later in the year. (see: Auburn 2005) I think they should come out at least around week 3 or 4.

That said, according to that Dawgs play 7 teams in the Top 50 and 5 in the Top 25 and we don't even play Bama, LSU, or Arkansas this year.

Early sleeper game: Week 3, OU @ FSU

Could be an early contender gets knocked out early. If FSU wins that game, I think they may play for it all.

My Huskers play four teams in the top 25 and eight teams in the top 50. I'm taking this season week by week and with tempered optimism.
I'll be happy with another ten win season, and ecstatic if we make the inaugural Big Ten title game. I'm just not sure they have what it takes on the offensive side of the ball to win tough conference road games, but their overall team speed might surprise a bunch of old school Big Ten teams.
I think #11 is a bit too high, the Huskers should be starting somewhere near Michigan State.
