I was gonna say, the Munn Field Riot at Michigan State in '98 had way more prolonged mayhem than that.

The lesson: you don't mess with college students and where they're allowed to drink beer.

I just spent way too much time reading this blog. Premise is, that the author is a sorority girl who has an ipod with only American Idol, and Glee soundtrack on it. She wants to broaden her musical horizon so she embarks on listening to "1001 Albums You Have To Hear Before You Die" journey.

Her take on Dino Jr's "You're Living All Over Me"
Quote:
So we've got an American alternative band from Massachusetts. Now if there has been any band that felt more "90s" to be lately, it has to be these guys. Dinosaur Jr. uses a lot of simple banjo-like melodies and has a lead singer with a grungy "over it" kind of tone to his voice. The 90s thing was strong in the simpler songs like "Lose" and "Just Like Heaven".

Holy Christ, I am going to have to read this entire blog, just for the very sake I can't wrap my head around having never even heard of some of these artists. And shit like this is priceless:

Quote:
Day 200: The Stooges | Fun House

Ugh, I worked myself too hard yesterday & now I just feel like crud. I'm hoping it's just that I'm tired and not the precursor to the flu of the century that all the children come in with.

Okay Stooges. They are just a little bit too similar to the Rolling Stones for their own good. They've got their little British lead singer who sing-talks quite a bit, they've got songs in which it is debatable if they even contain lyrics. But, for some reason, I kind of like the Stooges better.

Their songs are just unbridled and loud and rude and fun. The lead singer, Iggy Pop, just screams and shrieks at what seems like random intervals. Even though it's a recorded studio album, I feel like I'm in the most pit of one of their concerts. He just seems to be getting into the music and just taking it where it goes.

And oh the Iggy screaming...there is quite a bit. But, it's all in good fun. My two favorite tracks were "Funhouse" and "Loose" just for their chaotic crazytown instrumentals...I feel like I need a nap and a shower after those songs. The rest are great too, just this ridiculously loud musical experience. 4.5 stars.

Yes, this song IS going through my head today:

Stay safe, Londoners. Love and safe wishes to you all.

I was woken up this morning at 3:30am because the landlord apparently thought it'd be a great idea to hire contractors do redo our apt's stairwell at such an hour.

aren't there work/noise ordinances?

at my last apartment, the landlord hired some guys to redo the back stairwell. during their job, they'd arrive around 6:45am and get their gear together. then they'd sit in the alley and talk. but as soon as 7am hit, they were right to work.

I'm sure there are. But...the last time I complained about something building-wise that had gotten out of had (no front door in the middle of winter for a month), and called the city, they didn't call me back and called the landlord. This, in turn, resulted in a fired up phone call to me accusing me of trying to get him in trouble. So, since then I've just said whatever unless its something major. Needless to say, we're pursuing other housing options.

Jerry Lee Lewis speaks on...

Buddy Holly: “He couldn’t fart a hit.”
Little Richard: “He can’t play piano for sh*t.
Fats Domino: “Now THERE is one piano-playing son-of-a-bitch! He can show you a quick trick. Fats plays piano like Chuck Berry plays guitar. Now THERE are two of the greats.”
Chuck Berry: “Hate his guts. But I’m jealous. He’s too damn good. And I never did burn no piano. That’s a damn lie.”

Was home this morning with the wife sitting on the couch, saw something out of the corner of my eye. Look up and there is a bat swooping around our living room. Needless to say it was an intriguing 10 mins.

Also, luckily I still have a lacrosse stick/gloves handy.

Didn't kill it. Caught and released. The excitement never ends here.
