I should have said college football? Shocking.

Lil Luke is awesome; dude spent hundreds of thousands of dollars so some 19 year old kids would talk to him? Good job.

This story is unbelievable. Hookers and straight cash homey. Also, abortions.

I don't know how they'll avoid the death penalty. CFB is at a tipping point it seems. I could see the NCAA trying to make an example of them.

Dude, if they get the death penalty it will cause a huge furor - and it will cause smart boosters of teams like Miami to put their own PI's on other teams -- a move that there must be an unwritten rule about.

His quote about the Gagortion is the best in the whole article: "If I'd'a told him, the dumbie might have wanted to keep it"

The most damning thing is the DEEP involvement of not only coaches across the board but high ranking officials in the Athletic Dept who, if you believe this cat, completely knew what was going on but didn't want to kill the golden goose.

As juicy and salacious as many of the details of this story are, the NCAA will see those transgressions as beyond the pale IMO. At least with regards to punishment. That stuff goes well beyond the dreaded "lack of institutional control".

Also heard an interesting discussion this morning on sportstalk that ESPN was doing this "Blueprint for Change" panel on college football this week and Saban was on there talking about "getting rid of the leeches" and generally doing a lot of finger wagging.

2 of the coaches on his staff are directly linked to this scandal. The question was do you let them on your practice field today?

Saint Saban knows what he's doing - admit nothing, deny everything, POINT (wag?) Fingers!

And our state's and the national media will all give him a pass because he's just. so. great. *groan*

I do love the Shalala pic. Nice fat lady jort/pants Former United States Secretary of Health and Human Services. Way to show up like you're there to help re-paint the hallways in a dilapidated high school as part of a community service day.

And - NO ONE is happier than Cam and Cecil Newton and Trooper Taylor and Gene Chizik (and a bunch of guys I know who are the suspected bagmen)

I heard ol Danny "I HAVE THE KEY TO THE CAM NEWTON STORY" Sheridan is making some announcement on Finebaum today.

If it's anything like his last 10 "announcements" it'll be meaningless.

I'm still waiting on the alleged story from Yahoo Sports about an "SEC West contender" to drop. Maybe they were talking about the Miami story.

Oh and Shalala has always been garbage. Ever since that huge brawl with Miami and Florida International went down and she basically did nothing. A couple of suspensions and openly admitted she didn't even watch the game or even seen any of the footage a full 2 days after it was the biggest story in college football that weekend.

Interesting take by Matt Hinton at Rivals about the underlying storyline that will hang over this whole thing:

Quote:
If it wasn't true, you couldn't make it up. It is such a nightmare, such a perfect storm of arrogance, negligence and corruption, that it's almost a parody of the genre. It's a feature film that makes you roll your eyes and wonder how they ever expected an audience to swallow that it was "inspired by true events."

It's also a test of the NCAA's mettle: Just how far is it willing to go to continue to enforce the facade of "amateurism"? In the most extreme, unabashed affront to its most fundamental premise — hell, to its very existence — in 25 years, where does it draw the line?

I don't know the answer, and I doubt anyone will for a long time. The NCAA process is well underway, and it's response is going to be the usual long, protracted exercise in bureaucratic tooth-pulling, spanning many months and many bureaucratic steps and probably an appeal or two in the name of giving Miami its due process. At no point in that span will I write that Miami is going to get the death penalty, or that it should get the death penalty. Frankly, I don't have an opinion.

But if the death penalty is in the bylaws, it must be on the table here. Practically speaking, if this isn't a death penalty case, then the death penalty no longer exists.

As much as I hate (and I mean LOATHE) Miami, I do feel bad for Al Golden.

I wanted to post an image of the UGA Nike Pro Uniforms and comment on the profit uber ales nature of the game - vis-a-vis the TAMU to the SEC brouhaha of failure. But I couldn't find a workable link to a jpeg. I did find this in my search, though. ATTn:DALEN

ESPN Pre-Season Bowl Projections were released on the same day as the Pre-Season AP Poll.
http://espn.go.com/college-football/bow ... 011&week=0

Brad Edwards has the Huskers playing Georgia in the Capital One, while Mark Schlabach continues the trend of projecting Nebraska in the Rose Bowl against the Ducks.

Like I said "Uniform Gimmicks ALWAYS turn out awesome for us!"

The helmets are the fucking worst. Actually the fact that MarRich or the AD or fucking anyone would allow Nike to dictate this to the program is the real farce.

Those might be the worst Nike Pro-Combat I've seen yet. I've actually liked some of these but that's beyond bad.

I'd certainly be sweating it out if I were an LSU fan. I'd say there's better than good chance he doesn't play but who knows. Lots of muddy waters to that story. Some people got seriously jacked up so someone's got to go down. I'm sure a couple of guys will never play another down for LSU after all is said and done.

That said, it always seems The Hat does his best work when shit like this is swirling around.
