wench : The Low Anthem - Ticket Taker : dear god woman you're obsessed with guys and their acoustic guitars. i like this song though, it reminds me of Morphine's "In Spite of Me." Very quiet but captivating. You've got to recommend a song to me for that mix we worked on for 5 minutes like 5 months ago. 6/10

thisotherkingdom : Phantom Planet - Hey Now Girl : My wife likes this band. I have a feeling I've heard this song before though. In a movie or tv show or something. Great new school pop nugget. 7/10

twoguns : My Morning Jacket - Victory Dance : I can't remember what I rated the previous MMJ track. This song is kinda whatever and I don't like their haircuts. 5/10

toots : Weekend Nachos - Obituary : Hahahaha. This is the best thing I've heard from toots. Powerviolence makes me laugh sometimes. 7/10

shiv : Joel Alme - On This Night of Loving Arms: This guy again? Horns are cool, but this isn't as good as the other song you pulled. 5/10

drinky : Bobbu Hutcherson - Procession : Groovy. Gotta love stars of the jazz vibraphone scene. Once again this is a good song, but it just makes me want to delve into his catalog to find his best. Normally I don't care for free flowing melodies, but he seems to do it well here. 7/10

harry: Marin Marais :- Suite in C Minor : What the hell? 17th century baroque? No thanks. 4/10

Everybody Else - Rich Girls, Poor Girls - This is really good. Kind of reminds me of the Gin Blossoms. This is really catchy. I want to hear more.

The Dirty Heads - Driftin' - Meh. This is like Limp Bizkit on valium. Not digging this at all.

Paul Westerberg - Looking Up in Heaven - I could see myself cruising through the countryside, windows down, blaring this song. It's got my foot tapping

Silver Sun - Jody - This is decent for 80s sitcom intro music.

Kurt Baker - I've Done Everything for You - I enjoyed Kurt's set at Insub this year. This is pretty catchy.

Took a quick listen of your station. I haven't heard The House of Love in forever. Christine is such a great song. Everything else I heard sucked, but that song is so damn good. Oh wait, Fu Manchu's Asphalt Risin' just popped up. Awesome.

I love Minor Threat though.

thisotherkingdom : My Morning Jacket - You Wanna Freak Out ; I actually like the mellower songs by this band more than the stuff that rocks out. Though there's a cool guitar part and some nice slide as well. 7/10

toots : Jamaica - I Think I Like U 2 : This is one of my fav's off this album. But it's still nothing more or less than basic boppy electro-pop. 6/10

drinky : Fleet Foxes - The Shrine/An Argument : Not bad. I like the new FF stuff. But still, I'm not gonna put up with 8 minutes of it. 5/10

patrick: Drunken Barn Dance - Tapo Canyon Drowning : Hmm, a very appropriate name and title. Seems to sway in a tipsy manner. My wife thinks it sounds Doug Martschy. Would like to see what they can do with a more straight-forward song, rather than a moody buzz ballad like this. 5/10

cleptic: The Pains of Being Pure At Heart - Come Saturday : The more I listen to these guys, the more I like them. They have a few mega-gems IMO and the rest is pleasant as well. The one annoying thing about them (and others in whatever scene this is called these days) is that it sounds sooooo much like 90s indie pop. The slight fuzz, the jangle, the cooing and oooohing, the energy and a "pop sensibilities." Not that there's anything wrong with that. At all. I just wonder if kids today even know about March, Kindercore, Darla, or if the bands have any respect for the old stuff. Whatever, it's a good song. 6/10

Match 2 (I'll do Dalen vs. Doc next 'cause Dalen is ready to do this! whatever this is.)

dalen : Exhumed - As Hammer To Anvil : hahaha! Dalen, c'mon, I thought maybe you'd train for this competition! This song is fast and blast-beaty. The guitars speed chug through the song. I like the way the starts/stops/rhythms are jarring and fierce. But those vocals. Ugggh. Basically they sound like "Ugggh" in musical form. The lead singer is ok I guess, pretty standard glass-shredded throat scream stuff. But then there's the low growl indecipherable shit. So hard to rate overall since it's got a lot going for it, but ultimately not that enjoyable. I'll be generous. 5/10

doctoracula : Black Wine - Hand : Black Wine again? You people need to learn that variety is the spice of life. Still, the band has 3 songwriters/vocalists so I suppose I can let it slide. Kinda sounds like if Kurt Cobain was even more influenced by the Pixies than was claimed at some home. Hooks and intensity. I will buy this LP at some point. 7/10
