Is this only available as either an import, or from the record label in Canudian dollars?

I searched around a bit and couldn't find an non-import version cd or vinyl. If anyone else has looked and had better luck let us know. I haven't ordered yet but will probably order directly from the label. The $20 price includes shipping from Canada so that seems pretty reasonable. I guess what's holding me up is I'm still trying to decide how much of his catalog to order. He's got another country solo album from last year (which I haven't heard) and a what looks like a one-off collaboration called Daniel, Fred and Julie (or something like that) which is also country. The Julie is Julie Doiron. I don't know who the Fred is. I'm leading toward just ordering all three but I just paid a a five figure tax bill, monies a little tight and I'm not sure I really need that last one.

Glad you're enjoying it. I am so obsessed that when I was out running errands all day yesterday without it, I ended up streaming a few songs on my phone.

I sent the record label an email over the weekend asking for info on how to do multiple orders and paying in Canudian $$. Just got a response saying they will sell me the 2 Romano cd's for $35 Can., payment through paypal which apparently has an option for currencies other than USD.

I sent the same email and received the same response. Definitely ordering those two.

My order of his two records arrived last night and I gave a first listen to his debut solo album. It's not bad but I don't like it nearly as much as the new one. I wouldn't really even think he was capable of the new one based on the first one. Hard to believe given how much I liked it from the start but this continues to grow and grow for me. I think my favorite song has changed 6 or 7 times at least in the last week.

Frederick Squire put out an album last year called March 12 that made it into my top 50. There's some good stuff on it - very much influenced by Neil Young (circa-Zuma).

I'll have to investigate that, thanks.

Just saw this and just DL'd.

Here's City & Colour (Dallas Green) backed by The Sadies and Daniel Romano covering Neil's "Old Man" at the Junos.

Finally got around to checking this out. 1st listen to Sleep Beneath the Willow and I really like "Louise" and "There Are Lines on My Face". Will definitely burn this for listening while riding around/driving.

i saw the guy mentioned first by discostu as DANIEL green, then shortly thereafter saw patrick refer to him as dallas green, so i thought patrick might have erroneously/subsconsciously been thinking of the old phillies manager

I started playing with some folks, and I sent "Paul & John" to them to listen to, as an example of the kind of sound I like to play. Went to practice wednesday night and they were flipping out about it, demanding to cover it.

Just stumbled upon this Popmatters interview with Alfie from Bahamas about the Toronto music scene in which some Daniel Romano news came up.

Alfie from Bahamas Wrote:
that’s the other guy I was going to say, is Daniel Romano. He has a new album that’s not out yet, but he and I are pals, and I got hold of a copy of it. It’s awesome. It’s really just country music. He’s not from the South or from Nashville or anything, but he’s definitely a student of George Jones and Marty Robbins, and all this classic country music. And, I just believe it: his voice and his playing and everything really just suits the sound so well.

Stuart Henderson, Popmatters Feature Editor Wrote:
I mean, honestly, Romano’s Sleep Beneath the Willow was probably my favourite album last year.

Alfie Wrote:
Well, wait until you hear this new one, man. I’m not sure when it’s coming out. It may be in the springtime or the summer, but it’s really fantastic.

Oh and for Discostu, he's apparently playing the Normaltown Records Showcase at the High Watt in Nashville next Tuesday.

Edit: I guess Normaltown is a new Athens, GA based label started by New West Records and Daniel Romano is part of their initial artist roster. According to the press release, his new album will be out in the fall.

I used to live in Normaltown (its a neighborhood in Athens); stoked about the album.
