Despite having the Eagles D Gonzo and Ice were point machines. So, I won.

That Romo shit was ballsy - but you and I both know he can't play 14 more regular season games and 3 playoff games with a broken rib.

Fun day (and night) of football, though.

There's talk of sitting him, Austin, Felix, Newman, Scandrick, Costa, and the rest of this team's walking wounded until after the bye week. CON: We'll be 1-4 going into the bye. PRO: We'll be 100% full-ass healthy coming out of it (provided, of course, none of the scrubs forced into action against the Deadskins and Super Bowl XLVI Champion Detroit Lions get injured).

The natives spent ALL WEEK last week CRUCIFYING Romo, so I am happy for him to get at least one monkey paw off his back for now. I mean, based on the insane anti-Romo rhetoric being spewed after the Jets game, you'd have quite literally thought he pulled the trigger from the sixth floor of the School Book Depository back on 11/22/63.

Yeah, my MiL's disgust for Romo outshines my own for Mike Blowbo.

For posterity:

Matt Ryan took the beating, made plays, won the game.

Mike Vick left the Dome spitting blood, dazed and confused.

Maclin dropped the ball?? That's a YOU problem.

Eat shit Philly.

Yeah it's early but two tears in a bucket....

Fuck off. Atlanta should burn. Where's General Sherman when you need him?

Have fun watching Dunta Robinson turn someone into a paraplegic this season.

To be fair, the only two plays he's made since he's been here have been the hit on Jackson last year and the hit on Maclin last night. It's not that the guy is dirty, it's just that he's not very good.

But, like my old pal MV7 did when he was leaving the field last night, I point to the scoreboard.

I am aware of the scoreboard. Thus, my rage.

Honestly, though, Michael Turner was the hero. Matt Ryan looked scared and inept most of the game.

I hate both Atlanta AND Philly, and this was about the greatest, most rewarding game I've ever watched. It was like seeing your two greatest enemies disembowel each other on national teevee.

Ryan was getting KILLED in that game. Seriously, Sam Baker should give his game check to charity because he didn't do shit.

But Ryan threw four TD's, led the two most important drives of the game and, oh yeah, stayed IN the game (something Vick is always going to have a hard time doing) so I'd have a hard time calling his play inept.

Did you see Bill Barnwell's piece on Grantland about breaking down the Philly D? Pretty interesting stuff.

It explains why I got 53 pts out of Ryan and Gonzo.

Glad I didn't know Bradford was playing because I would have probably started him.

Exactly. He looked absolutely as bad as it gets in the 3rd quarter and then went 7 for 10 in his final two drives including the game winning drive. Also, if anyone didn't know, Ryan was calling the plays on that last hurry up drive and he saw the Philly D in a soft Nickel and called "Halfback Dive" and Turner then gashed 'em with that run.

It pains me to say it but Vick IS incredible. Most exciting player in the league (again). But, 2 of his biggest achilles heels showed up in that game, his health, and securing the ball on the run.

This isn't directed at el scorcho but you can't imagine just how fatigued sports fans in this town are over the vocal minority Vick-ophants here. Nothing is ever his fault and Ryan will never be Vick, blah blah blah. These people aren't Falcons fans and are miserable people in general. I heard some claiming it was the Atlanta interception that wasn't challenged by Andy Reid as the reason they lost the game. Give me a fucking break.

As for Dunta Robinson, whatever. 40K fine and no suspension. Looking at the replay, he did lead with his helmet but he still hit hime with probably 90% shoulder. Still, like Bloor said, dude has pretty much been overrated so far.

I'm not a fan of these fines to begin with. You take a guy who has played one way and that way got him into the league and then he has to change it. It's pretty subjective.

It's not just that stuff either, I think the league uses kid gloves for QB's as well.

how about tom brady? he is going to pass montana and unitas in total wins and will possibly pass tarkanten (spelling not included) to enter the top 5 in only his 11th season (plus he lost one to injury). his winning percentage is by far the best in history. he absolutely shredded miami and san diego. miami held houston to 200 yards passing, and san diego gave up only 28 passing yards to minnesota. if he wins the mvp this year it will be #4, same goes for the super bowl. is there any compelling argument that we are not watching the best qb of all time? the first 2 weeks, it really has been like watching jordan.

meanwhile, what would his numbers be like if he had that one top receiver his whole career, the way manning had harrison or montana had rice?
i'm thinking this team has every bit as good a chance of going undefeated as the 2007 team. the defensive numbers don't look that great, but they have been dealing with marshall, jackson, and floyd so far. big, fast receives. of course they are going to give up some yardage. but the number that jumps out to me is 0 catches for gates. clearly they are able to execute and take away what they want to take away. by far a better defense team than we have seen since rodney and tedy retired. i don't see a team in the league that has a prayer of matching up with them.

It's crazy to say this, because they have undoubtedly been one of the 2 or 3 best teams in the league during this time period, but the Pats haven't won the Super Bowl since 2005.

Ngata signs 5-year extension. No numbers yet, but expect it to be big.

true of course, but i wouldn't know how to evaluate what it means that they are 1 of 24 teams that haven't won in that stretch. also, brady was injured one of those years on top of that. regardless of how disappointing the playoffs have been in that time, brady is better than ever right now and has a team built around him that should have a window of several years. he could end up with 5 or 6. on the other hand, all is certain to retire with is 3, but that still puts him in elite company. i would still take him over any qb in history, again with a nod to some of the junk receivers (who i love, don't get me wrong) he has done it with.

After number Super Bowl win #3, I put Brady above Montana despite Joe's fourth ring and better SB numbers. As thrill stated, he got three rings in half the time with less talent around him. Career winning percentage could be a stat clincher, but I would still take Elway.

A recurring topic on ESPN radio is the "Which QB would you pick today" and it usually comes down to Brady vs. Rodgers. As a packer fan, I'd of course pick Rodgers... but it wouldn't be an easy decision. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw Brady make a mistake on the field.

rodgers is a very good qb, but until he succeeds under different coordinators with different personnel around him, i don't even think it's close. nobody thought brady could throw the deep ball for years. then randy shows up and it turns out he can throw it better than just about anybody. so you don't really always know what you have in a guy. rodgers will get his chance to prove it because as the packers continue to win, the coordinators and coaches will get poached just like happens in new england constantly.

What was the point of your post? To just say "hey guys let's talk about how awesome Tommy is"?

Is there anyone who would even argue he isn't one of the greatest ever at this point?

For me it's 1A and 1B, Montana and Brady. If only for the 4th ring Montana has but it's about as close as it gets.

Also, to say no one has a prayer of matching up with the Pats in this league is asinine.

Much as it pains me, being as big a JoMo homo as I am, I agree with this. Never would have thought I'd consider anyone else within several light years of him, but Brady's been too good for too long.
