Quote:
The "classic" mid-'90s lineup of Guided By Voices—the one with Tobin Sprout, Mitch Mitchell, Kevin Fennell, the striped pants-wearing dervish Greg Demos, and of course Robert Pollard—has been touring for a year, supposedly wrapping up its reunion jaunt earlier this month at the Hopscotch Music Festival in Raleigh, N.C. But the band has at least one more trick to pull before it wanders off into the sunset: A new album, Let's Go Eat The Factory, is set for release on Jan. 1, 2012. It is the first GBV album with this lineup since 1996's masterful Under The Bushes, Under The Stars.

No word on any singles sprouting up yet, but we do have a tracklist for you below (via Mojo).

Mark it down: Let’s Go Eat the Factory arrives January 1st, 2012.

I have only heard one GBV song that I know of, Glad Girls, and it's great pop rock.

some would say a daunting task, but worth it

seriously the best of is a good place to start or maybe someone here has a worthy comp to put up

I only have about 4 albums out of the panoply, probably own more Tobin Sprout actuallly

i just recently put together a mix CD containing what i consider their best stuff not included on the greatest hits album

i'll try and get it posted here later today - been meaning to share

i'm torn on whether or not to title it "a queen's prize awaits" (from "fair touching") or "a miracle cure for my sorrow" (from "everybody thinks i'm a raincloud (when i'm not looking)")

which is better?

spoiler alert (i just revealed two of the 36 songs on my CD)

at some point, i'd really like to tackle the challenge of compiling a best of from the solo pollard albums

I have one comp for every year from '06 - '11
If you count all the side projects that's about 5-6 releases a year.

This would include -

Solo Pollard - 12
Boston Spaceships - 5
Circus Devils - 5
Side projects & collaborations - 9

Whew

probably something like:

Port Authority
Girl Named Captain
Good Luck Sailor
She Saw the Shadow
Their Biggest Win
Beaten By the Target
Flat Beauty
Red Ink Superman
Fairly Blacking Out
Hell for Humor
7th Level Shutdown
Powerblessings
Tight Globes
Kickboxer Lightning
Submarine Teams
Paradise Style
Far-out Crops
Pick Seeds From My Skull
Subspace Biographies
Rumbling Joker

Just 20. It's kind of a fool's errand anyway. One could make a million compilations with different songs and they'd all be obscenely top shelf.
