After watching Catching Hell, I am 100% convinced what turned the crowd so violently against Bartman was that toddler temper tantrum Moises Alou threw on the field.

The other thing I learned from that documentary was that Bob Stanley deserved like 90% of the blame Bill Buckner got for the Red Sox losing the '86 World Series. And the remaining 10% should be split between Buckner and Calvin Schiraldi.

And Alex Gonzalez totally got off scot-free in the Cubs fiasco.

I thought the documentary was really good.

Also, I'd never really seen any of the rest of the inning when Buckner booted that ball. Even though it was tied, they had basically lost that game by the time Buckner's error, and the error just topped it off.

i thought it was ok. they focused way too much on buckner for something supposedly about bartman. i understand that they used buckner to show that scapegoats can forgive and be forgiven, but the first half-hour was dominated by the buckner play. if they were going to do that, why didn't they even mention other infamous sport-related scapegoats? and i don't think they ever placed any blame on dusty baker for pulling a grady little and leaving prior out there too long. that was key. i remember watching that game and thinking, "prior looks tired." i thought the most fascinating part (and i probably think this because i didn't know anything about it) is how they got bartman out of wrigley, then into that security guard's apartment and that he apparently had no memory of the incident.

there were definitely much better 30 for 30s.

I've always blamed him most of all, but yes, he totally did. Also, let's not forget Bernie Mac and his "Root Root Root for the Champs!" during the 7th inning stretch. F'n Sox fan jinxed us.

I thought this was pretty entertaining. Not sure how it equates Cubs fans to being pussies.

Fandom can be completely irrational. I would've done the same thing Bartman did with the ball coming at me. But, I would've reacted the same exact way that most people did in the stadium that night. I would've been drunk and pissed. Several people factored into the loss but he's the scapegoat. Such a small moment in baseball history but little moments like that make sports great (and painfully brutal).

My favorite moment was after that inning was over the guy with the camcorder is filming his buddy walking towards him and he's got this blank look on his face. He just walks up and says something like "what the hell happened?" or "the wheels fell off". Can't remember what he says exactly but it's perfect.
