Drive....holy shit. Saw it this weekend, and left the theater twitchy. That was some serious shit. Awesome.

This starts out somewhat promising...but just fails to deliver. Not a fan.

I liked it quite a bit.. but it certainly doesn't seem like common Obner fare.

Having now caught up on the Avengers tie-in films this is how I rank them:
Iron Man>Thor>Captain America>Incredible Hulk (08)>Iron Man 2

I really enjoyed it as well but was sort of uneasy with it. Cool experience. I wonder if the tension/ etc. will feel the same on multiple viewings. Loved the soundtrack.

I heard lots of groaning leaving the theater.

I tried to watch Bridesmaids last night. One of the worst comedies I've ever seen. I think I liked Anchorman better.

I'd probably have the same ranking but would switch up the last two. Though I can't really be sure because I was real drunk when I saw Iron Man 2.

And Drive was amazing.

I'd go:

Iron Man>Cap>Thor>Hulk>Iron Man 2

^ yeah, that feels right ^

Thor was so disposable, but had zero fat, aside from maybe 1-2 scenes. Just a bunch of fun.

Can't wait to see Drive again. I can see where it might disappoint folks, but golly.

I think I'm going to see Drive again as well because I totally missed the opening scene and the part right before the elevator scene.

I agree with Rabbit's ranking.

I hope I can get the chance to go see Drive soon. I feel like I haven't seen a truly good movie in the theater in forever.

Saw 50/50 yesterday and enjoyed it.
Yes, it's obvious Oscar® fodder, but it was well done. Joseph Gordon Levitt was very good. Seth Rogen played the exact same character that he always plays, but I happen to like that guy, so I enjoyed watching him.
Guessing that Levitt will get a nomination for Best Actor and maybe the movie will for screenplay. The rest depends upon the rest of the field.
Still, I'd recommend it if you're in the mood for a sad sack cancer movie that's not a total chick flick.

Speaking of JGL--this was interesting, though it was completely mis-marketed as to what it ended up being. From the trailers, you'd think this was about some guy going around making trouble--and it kinda is, but that really robs the film of a lot of its dark humor.

I went in thinking I was gonna love this.
I hated the first 90% of it.
I wound up crying during the last 10 minutes of it.
What a roller coaster...

I liked it better than the first one which was kind of made too goofy by the Doctor's over the top performance. I guess the point is they're supposed to be that way but I just couldn't stop laughing at the him in the original. This is in b&w (mostly) which is a little weird for a movie which is all about gore but the lead actor is just so fucking odd looking that he kind of keeps you transfixed during the whole thing. It's still quite silly but a bit more creepy than the first.

Tried to go into this not comparing it to the John Carpenter version. It's obviously not as good but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The CGI is good in some parts, passable in others.

saw this last night. Cool cultural doc/artifact. All about one man's attempt at changing the country. Agree or disagree, but at least he tried and had one hell of a time doing it. Some early Warlocks (nee Grateful Dead) footage towards the end. Alex Gibney, the guy that did ENRON: The Smartest Guys in the Room, was the director.

Just got back from this. Not something I was really excited about seeing, but it succeeds in many ways...great acting, creepy as hell, and really well directed.

It was partially shot in my little 'burb. The supermarket scene(s?) was in a place less than a mile from my house. It's a sleepy little town and the shoot caused a lot of excitement.
Still probably won't see it though. I hate epidemic movies.

Gibney also did the Bartman doc for ESPN.
