Actually what's the story on these guys, from those of you who are into this stuff?

crazy influential hardcore band...amazing...
then they started to throw in a bit of OK Computer-esque spaciness to the mix.....still mor amazing...
then they broke up.....got back together....put out an EP with a bit less of spaciness and more back to their roots...
just released 'white silence' a few months back, which has it's moments....heavy, catchy, but not their best stuff....

Interesting. The guitar player (Adam) is a friend, and I know he's in a band and stuff but I'd never heard of them. I've been meaning to ask you guys who they were for like 3 years now.

Theyre a bit hit and miss in my book...
When they are good, they are one of the best....then they have some very forgettable stuff...

Just checked youtube and saw a video they did in 2003 and a live show (of "Jupiter") from 2001 - it's really, really wierd that this is my buddy. And really fucking cool. Yeah I'd love to hear more.

I seem to remember Antenna sounding a bit Foo-ish. I dug them at one point but haven't listened to them in awhile.

Yeah I think Jupiter was definitely the only thing I really listened to by them. I have some ep that I think came shortly before or after that but that's about it for me.

So I liked this, a lot more than I thought I would. It reminds me most of Rush, Foo Fighters (for lack of a better stand in for that "heavyish but still melodic"), and early Incubus.

Dude goes home to Connie Nielsen at nite, too. I think he's doing pretty well in spite/because of the receding hairline.

Never having heard a lick of this band, I still associate them with Coalesce & Piebald, since my friends (of friends) who were all up on it back in '99 were also into those first two.

Early Cave-In is way more abrasive. Sort of screamo/metalcore or whatever horrible mid-90's hardcore/metal fusion term you want to use. But it's awesome. Coalesce is definitely a good reference point. Beyond Hypothermia collects a lot of the early stuff. The later space metal stuff is OK.

That title song, Jupiter, is stuck on repeat in my head. It's going to be a little weird the next time I see Adam.
