If you look at the top 5% compared to the bottom 95% everyone but Finche and Radcliffe are probably considered rich around here.

I'm still always down for the class war, and no worries here about which side I know I will be on. And it sure as shit ain't anywhere near the top 5%.

Those Chicks of Occupy Wall Street things leave me greatly conflicted. The side of me that finds lefty radical women hot is now arguing with the side of me that finds exploiting said women's looks instead of valuing their political dedication and contributions sexist and counterproductive.

Peter Schiff takes on 'The 99%'


Interesting, but I wish there was better representation of "the 99%" in that video.

Both sides looked pretty silly on that video to me. The random OWS people confronted didn't exactly cover themselves in glory but Schiff didn't do anything much more than come down with a film crew and keep repeating how he's paying more than his share already.

Agreed, but from a propaganda POV it makes the OWS people look like they don't have any answers. Especially when he asked her how many people she employed. I think this accomplished exactly what Schiff intended--to look like the one who is even-headed.

If we are already at the point where guys like him feel they need to come down there and get pro-active about defending themselves to Joe Public, OWS is the clear winner on my scorecard.

I disagree. If these guys feel comfortable and confident enough to come down, it means they know that the people they will be debating will be push-overs. From a PR aspect, you aren't going to engage yourself in a discussion unless you're going to look good.

I see it just like the fun we all had with Tea Party people early on.. incredible feats of spelling, Hi I'm A Racist attitude right to a camera, that kind of stuff. At this point it's a bunch of agry people with no job... you can find plenty who won't debate a well-educated CEO on camera very well. It hurts, but only a little as long as the greater message is still landing unanswered.

Cap has a really good point here. You have a highly educated CEO coming down to "debate" someone he randomly picks out of a crowd. I'd say considering that set-up, with him coming fully prepared to accost some random passerby, he really was pretty ineffective, especially if asking a working class woman how many people she employs is what he's got to hang his hat on.

Absolutely agree. Its what Michael Moore does, and what really bad doc filmmakers do in order to create something that really isn't reality. They scold you on these tactics in school

However, it was effective in this way because he looks like he's completely comfortable while the OWS folks look vitriolic, ineffective and bumbling. I posted it because its a propaganda method of the other side. They're coming out of their shells and trying to fight these allegations. This is how they'll do it. Making the one side look like idiots who want a free hand-out and have absolutely no clue why they're really down there.

That said, Schiff isn't exactly your typical 1%er. He's been pretty lucid about his views for awhile. He was known as Dr. Doom for awhile after he predicted the housing and automotive downturns. While he isn't a perfect angel, personally, I think he's probably one of the more upfront, "I am who I am" type of guys.
