I loved Pujols being denied hero status in the 9th inning last night.

Tony LaRussa does his impression of Richard Harrow from Boardwalk Empire...

i really want the rangers to win because the cardinals are only behind the yankees and braves on my most-hated-in-mlb list, but that locker room's got to be completely deflated. i can't imagine any other team's been one strike away from the world series championship twice in a game they went on to lose.

We see that storyline play out time and time again. Teams just collapse and in the 7th game they play tight.

Still, I wouldn't count them out.

Insane game. Good to see discostu get some big hits last night.

I've honestly only had a passing interest in these playoffs but man, who doesn't love a Game 7?

Agreed. (Just had the exact same convo on the phone with my old man.)

As exciting as this series has been, I can't help but winder if the execs at Fox would still prefer a 4-game sweep by the Yankees over the Phillies, or vice versa.

Who gives a shit what the executives at Fox think? It's about what goes on on the field. (This also applies to discussions of TV ratings and stadium attendance)

Sorry FT; reminds me of Giants meltdown in 2002. So you'll get one in 2019.

Man, I thought Nolan was going to start crying in the ninth when the camera cut to him.

Even though the Cardinals won, it pleases me to know that George Bush is probably really sad and pissed off right now.

As a baseball fan this was a fantastic series...gotta feel for the Rangers, so close but yet so far.

the home field rule needs to change.

I found this article making fun of La Russa particularly enjoyable.

the part where the winner of the all-star game determines home-field advantage.

it's really stupid, but i don't care about that too much, the 2-3-2 can favor the road team depending on where the rotation falls and match ups.

yeah, it could work out either way, but I think it benefited St. Louis to have the final two games at home for sure...to bad it didn't work for Milwaukee in the NLCS.

so, tony larussa's retired. i'd guess dave duncan won't be back either. i wonder how that affects pujols' decision.
