Has anyone done any recording on an Ipad. I'm thinking about buying one, and this one of the ways I'm justifying it to myself. it seems like it could be a good portable recording studio with garage band, and the touch screen seems like it would work good with the virtual instruments, any opinions?

I haven't attempted to record on it--I just like my current set up and don't feel like changing it, but as far as VSTs, have played around with the MOOG Filtatron on it and the interface is outstanding. Pretty expansive (and great sounding) little product MOOG has done and with the touch screen interface it is crazy easy to manipulate. That being said, it is really no different as far as a touch screen goes than the Kaoss products or the Tenori On, but neither of those are a MOOG product, so there's that.

Yeah, probably not much help, sorry.

I guess it would be similar to playing music instruments on the iPhone.

Does anyone know if the garage band software is basically the same, full version, on the ipad as it is on other apple computers?

I want to pick up an Ipad for this purpose.
Garage band is basically the same. I've seen some videos online too where people have purchased adapters to plug in USB interfaces.

Keep in mind the hard drive size though... pretty easy to fill an ipad up if you're multitracking and just letting the tape roll the whole time you are practicing..

Yeah, I was thinking about this as well. I wish that it had it had a USB drive so that I could just stick whatever I was doing onto a portable hard drive. I'm starting to think that this will just be something that I'll pick up if I can find some selling it used for a low price, but that it wouldn't be worth it otherwise.

By this logic, no one should record anything on anything, ever.
