I can understand the college kids protesting, because well, they're college kids, but to hear grown men on the radio try and defend Paterno is fucking shameful.

I'm probably not the most dedicated alumni, but if something like this happened at UGA, I would want EVERYBODY out before I even felt right about putting on a red shirt or watching a game--to not see the forest for the trees and to be a blind loyalist in a situation like this makes you look like a simp.

So, who's getting the job? Al Golden?

Totally agree that everybody had to go...but, It's a shame people are going to remember this about Paterno. I'm not entirely sure about the details, but I thought I heard that the info that Paterno received did not not involve actual rape...not that hiding inappropriate touching is any less horrible, he just may not have known the full extent.

The GA told JoePa he saw Sandusky in the shower having sex with a 10 year old (approx.) boy.

Ah! The students flipped over our sister station's newsvan! What the heck? Just heard and saw footage of it this morning. It was from the Altoona station that is owned by the same co. that owns us. Wow.

There's a bunch of columns and discussion going on here in Lincoln about whether or not it is prudent for the Nebraska vs Penn State game to be played on Saturday. There are safety issues after the student rioting and the Seniors on the Penn State squad are allegedly considering sitting out this game to protest the firing of Joe Pa.
I wouldn't expect the Nittany Lions to forfeit, and a cancelled game would most likely cost both schools and the conference of ton of revenue. Ticket prices for this game soared when it appeared to be Paterno's last home game.

Oh shit, please No! I love the guy. He's been mum and "concentrating" on FSU game, but, no definite "No!" said yet. I hope he'd rather build something of his own in respect to Paterno at UM rather than fill his shoes. And between the 2 programs and their problems, its all a mess.

He's one of the big three alongside Urban Meyer (would go to OSU first) or Greg Schiano (turned down Michigan, DB coach under Sandusky). At this point, Golden and Schiano's PSU ties may be a detriment. More thoughts here...

Board of Trustees 'got it wrong' said alleged victims' attorney - Fu's already spoken to the shaky rationalization of it on twitter, but I think it adds to the conversation RE: where the attention is vs. where it should be.

so are you ok with the graduate assistant who witnessed sandusky in the shower with the kid still having a job on the sidelines? cause i'm not sure how it's cleaning house without him also being fired.

Yeah, I'm kind of confused how McQueary hasn't been taking any heat.

If it is me who saw some kid being raped, I'm calling the police and not going to JoPa/administration.

I'm pretty sure he has it coming. If nothing happens though I'd be bugeyed.

Not to be rash or anything, but I just heard some radio guys throwing the NCAA "death penalty" around seeing as how long and how many people knew about it and that it was strictly for protecting the football program.

Whoopsy. Way to go PSU.

I'd be doing both, right after I took a golf club to the old guy's face while his dick was still inside the boy.

He'll be gone eventually (if not at Bradley's press conference, that's starting... now!), but for the moment he's keeping his mouth shut and not officially named in the grand jury presentment. Apart from sacking the whole staff, they might not be able to remove McQueary until the prosecution releases his name (just a guess, though... can any JDs confirm?).

It's been rattling around in my head ever since I heard the news. One thought is that the board fired Paterno and will let the rest of the staff go at season end as a way to avoid/minimize such penalties for the program. Might be wrong, and it may not work anyway.

Even if they accept his resignation and pay him out?

If that's what happened, they should be ok.

Physically felt ill to my stomach as I read this:

New reports are saying that Sandusky may have "pimped" out boys to rich donors

Quote:
"I can give you a rumor and I can give you something I think might happen," Madden said on the radio. "I hear there's a rumor that there will be a more shocking development from the Second Mile Foundation -- and hold on to your stomachs, boys, this is gross, I will use the only language I can -- that Jerry Sandusky and Second Mile were pimping out young boys to rich donors. That was being investigated by two prominent columnists even as I speak."

Assuming the initial allegations are true, anything is fair game at this point. GAR's kid-swapping joke is uncomfortably prescient.

Not much enlightening from Bradley's press conference so far. He's there until season end, sticking up for JoePa as a human being, telling the students to be classy for Saturday. McQueary will be coaching Saturday; from where is TBD. Nothing on the potential senior sit-out.

Any updates from Lincoln, Pat?

Curious: Has anyone read the indictment on Sandusky? I couldn't get through the first victim just now. One thing that is not translating through the press is that it's not one incident per victim; it's multiple incidents in some cases. It is crushingly sad.

No, I'm not okay with him keeping his job. I'm a bit confused as to how he still has his job, but maybe they made the decision on the big fish first.
