I know it seems insignificant in light of everything but the actual game between Nebraska and PSU actually does have big implications for the Big 10 season.

Also, nary a mention of Oregon@Stanford.

stanford 49
ducks 38

the ducks really havent played a quality opponent other than LSU and got pretty well trounced. i dont see them being able to stop Stanford at all. darrent thomas has few receivers to throw to this year, so teams can just line up to stop the run and pretty well stifle the ducks. maybe stanford's defense will let them down and the ducks can run wild in a shoot out.

if it was a home game, the Ducks might have a shot, but i dont think so on the road.

I've got Oregon in the upset. Stanford's schedule has been weak sauce.

Nothing really to get excited about. The Regents expressed some concerns about the game in a discussion with AD Tom Osborne. There was a suggestion to not wear red to the game and to avoid any altercations with students defending Joe Pa.
Tom Bradley seems to be doing his best to stress "class" and not to damage Penn State's reputation any further by attacking opposing fans.

And until he is cleared, I still have a sinking suspicion, Joep was corn holing too.

For the moment. I suspect he's gone the first time AG/prosecution confirms him as the grad assistant*, which they may not do until season-end as the grandy jury found him the most cooperative of the non-victim witnesses. Nobody on this year's staff makes it past mid-January.

* Am still searching for any confirmation of this from Harrisburg. I thought the Patriot-News was the first to name him, but I can't find any details of the leak or any official confirmation.

Not to be rash or anything, but I just heard some radio guys throwing the NCAA "death penalty" around seeing as how long and how many people knew about it and that it was strictly for protecting the football program.

It's been rattling around in my head ever since I heard the news. One thought is that the board fired Paterno and will let the rest of the staff go at season end as a way to avoid/minimize such penalties for the program. Might be wrong, and it may not work anyway.

I think "lack of institutional control" is the proper terminology.

Barry Switzer letting loose what I've been thinking from the start.

I can't wait until someone has the nuts to implicate Paterno. He's hired a defense attorney.

Didn't think about this--Second Mile got endorsements, I'm sure people are scrambling to get their names removed like Ripken. There's been talk about Nike as well with PSU unis.

Ripken asks Sandusky's charity not to use his name on website, in brochures

You think, if somebody had been given the bad touch by Joe Pa, they wouldn't have come out of the woodwork? Hell, Justin Bieber already got his first baby-mother drama. There would have been someone, even a prevaricator, who would have been willing to say, "Paterno banged me, too". It's the nature of our celebrity/notoriety age.

Joe Pa only covered this up, which is bad, yes -- but he wasn't a (direct)* abuser.

Anyway, given Sandusky's charity involvement, giving back, then doing this -- it makes me wonder, what's Tebow hiding?

(Yes, I went there. &, yes, it's an open secret he handles lots of Filipino boys during the offseason.)

'Neers are admittedly reeling from some unacceptable loses, but I see them winning. The rest of the games from here on out are must-win situations for them. This season is done, but they need to be playing for pride now. Especially next week vs. Pitt--which is gonna be a dirty, drunken game in MoTown.

Back to WVU/Cincy--both teams are "come from behind" teams, so we'll see how that plays out. Geno Smith is the better QB, but Cincy's secondary has been great these last few games. Casteel needs to fire up his defense who have been pretty spotty throughout the season.

I've got a bad feeling about this game as far as being a Nebraska fan. Depends which defensive team shows up for us... the one that shut down Michigan State, or the one that couldn't stop Northwestern. I'm leaning more towards the latter...

Penn State 27
Nebraska 24

Then again, Penn State may just completely fall apart at the seams for the rest of the year, starting with this game. A "Must-Watch" game, for much more than Big 10 season implications.

Penn State might have gone 0-for-November anyway; this is the meat of their conference schedule.

NCAA President Mark Emmerts Wrote:
Regarding the ongoing Penn State criminal investigation, the NCAA is actively monitoring developments and assessing appropriate steps moving forward. The NCAA will defer in the immediate term to law enforcement officials since this situation involved alleged crimes. As the facts are established through the justice system, we will determine whether Association bylaws have been violated and act accordingly. To be clear, civil and criminal law will always take precedence over Association rules.

Technically, they are already bowl-eligible. If the impossible happens and they run the table, they will be a conference champion whose only loss is to Alabama. I can't imagine any bowl, BCS or otherwise, taking them. NCAA has to get involved at that point.

Sam Stellatella, a three-position player in the 1950s, has donated money to Sandusky's defense and urged other former players to do the same.

"I told him he's going to need a million dollars to defend himself," the 73-year-old Stellatella said. "He called me back and said, 'What am I going to do with this money?' I said, 'Use it for your lawyer because you're going to need it.' "

Stellatella sent Sandusky $100. He wrote personal letters to other members of the 1959 Liberty Bowl team that defeated a Bear Bryant-coached Alabama team and asked they also donate. He does not know how much money was raised.

"I know some of the guys sent money," Stellatella told The Associated Press. "Here's the thing, these are horrendous charges against him. But he's still entitled to his day in court. Everybody's prejudged him. He's done horrendous damage to Paterno and (athletic director Tim) Curley and the football program. I don't listen to the news and I don't read the reports of what he did because I would get too upset.

"But he's still entitled to his day in court."

Source:PSU FB Alums rally program

I'm all about forgiveness and believing no one is too far deprived for redemption, but man, I don't know that I'd give money to Sandusky's defense. I mean, true everyone gets their day in court, but I think its blatantly clear he wronged and committed a heinous act.
