Pujols to DC. Prince Fielder to Toronto. (I'm calling that, now. Prove me wrong.) Cardinals turn to Berkman at first. Brewers go with Gamel.

The NL Central only has one playoff team next year. (Prolly, Cincinnati.)

Love to see Fielder in an O's jersey, because let's face it, something needs to give. Traditionally, large contracts haven't worked out for the O's, but neither has "the youth movement".

Probably never gonna happen with Angelos as owner, but one can sit and wish.

I hope these are just mock-ups, and not the real deal.

as much fun as that world series was, baseball needs to clear a seat next to horse racing and boxing on the Olde Tyme Express.

Wow, nobody mentioned that Houston was going to the AL in 2013. I just saw this headline since I was out of town at the end of last week and wasn't on the internet. It is about damn time that the NL Central teams stopped having an extra team to beat.

It was basically the only reason they'd let the sale happen. The new owners had to be ok with it.

I think the new playoff format is dumb, but moving a team makes sense.

You know what would have made more sense? Not moving MIL to the NL in the first place.

I am hoping against hope that one of the many MLB troglodytes (cough, Luke Scott, cough (sorry, Flying Rabbit)) doesn't use this death as a means to tout even more guns in the general population, i.e. if the stabbed brother had been otherwise better armed* than the stabbing brother, the stabbed brother would still be alive.

(Of course, the Luke Scotts of the world also could use the murder as evidence of the lower animal nature of the non-caucasian.)

(In other words, fuck Luke Scott.)

Rangers signed Joe Nathan to be their new closer, so they could move Neftali Feliz to the starting rotation in anticipation of "losing" C.J. Wilson to free agency (no big loss...SOOOOOO overrated).

Nathan's been good in the past, but he's old and his health is a major concern, so I am on the fence about this move.

I was surprised to find out CJ is already 31. Prolly a good move to let him go to NY or Boston for 5 years & 75 mil. He's not going to be the next John Lackey -- the sXe will keep Wilson from guzzling beer between starts -- but if he gets 60 wins over the life of the deal, I'll be shocked.

Yea. Reminds me of Dernell Stenson.

Well, when you are the commissioner and your team is Milwaukee, you get to go and stay where you want.

He's all but signed with the Angels already. Only California teams were in the running for his obnoxious surfer dude ass.

Ryan Braun potentially caught using PEDs. Man, what a time to get caught. NL MVP. 50 game ban. Disputing it. Sheesh.

Fuck that shit, for me it's anything but. I've hated that dude since the moment he's entered the league. No reason in particular, guy just looks like a smug asshole. This is the first I've heard of the scandal but at this point I'm hoping it's true.

Upon reflection, the way some people feel about Jay Cutler is exactly the way I feel about Braun. Just hate his f'n face.

So with an odd number of teams in each league, there will be inter-league games all the time now? Or will there always be a couple teams not playing on a given day?

it's amazing how we apply this. I feel exactly the same way about some others, just see it in 'em.

To borrow from blog comments, I can report Mel Gibson had this to say about Braun's positive test: "I knew he was dirty".
