They're back with their best record in years. This time they plugged in the electric guitars.

Everything about this album said I'd love it. Recorded at Levon Helms studio with Mike Campbell. I've liked their last 2 albums as well. Just totally unpretentious fun music with just the right amout of twang.

I picked this one up early Fall and it just never caught fire with me. While I think it may be one of their better overall albums top to bottom, there is no "How Will You Shine" or "Country Love" to immediately draw me in. I still enjoyed it for a brief time but it just didn't stick to the ribs and the over-earnestness started to wear on me eventually ("Eyes of a Child")

Will def check in to that Mike Viola and Vinyl Skyway rekkids.

Well done per usual MC.

Your points are well taken and thanks for the comments Derris. While I do find the new Gourds to be on equal ground with both Haymaker & Noble Creatures, I don't think they'll ever top Dems Good Beeble & Stadium Blitzer which are a heck of a 1-2 punch.

As for Pollard, while SCK has its moments, I vastly preferred Lord of the Birdcage. You no likey LOTB?

I like a few of the songs....Smashed Middle Finger, In a Circle & Ash Ript Telecopter, but preferred the Boston Spaceships and SCK. Over the years, I've taken in so much of his material, I'm starting to get a bit full, if you know what I mean.

This, or an all-original album of Yep. You're too brilliant of a songwriter to do another (almost) all-covers album, M-Cap!

Both of you have been incredibly supportive over the years. It means a lot coming from fellow music geeks. Sincerely, thank you.
There are no immediate plans to do another Yep record. What I can say is since last September, there's been some stirring in the Belleville house with just about enough material written for a new record. There are unreleased "recorded" songs still sitting in the "collection box", that may be used to round it out. These are songs that were not included on the 2004 'Demos' CD. The new recording will be done with same cast of characters from the Yep sessions as well as John Cuniberti engineering. It's all I know at this point.
Hoping for the best and the actual "time" to finish it.

Yo Cap'n -
Sure. I know of the F-Journal, but I don't recall us ever talking about it though. That said, Gillian & Dave would be perfect fodder for an article. Dave is such a great player. I wish I could get my hands on that '35 Epy Archtop-

Yeah I loved that writeup. Excited about some of the new ones - I just renewed.
