Based on this review, and the sample you can play, this sounds like it's right up a lot of alleys

Billy G
MCaputo
Cap'n
Rogneeb

me, bloor, kingfish, derris....possibly Radcliffe, but if we all tend to like it, he will lash out against it.

Also, how has no one around here posted about Kathleen Edwards making a record with Bon Iver?

Doesn't sound as much like Tweedy/Wilco/Uncle Tupelo to me (all favorites of mine) but reminds me much more of the Avett Brothers, another band I love. I'll track this down. Thanks.

I bet it's not a coincidence of where they're from that they remind me of a more ramshackle Grandaddy - and I mean that in a good way.

jesus christ guys. GAR, really? if i was some douche that enjoyed Mumford or Avett, yet couldn't even name one of their songs, and I walked into a bar, full of cheap whisky and saw these guys playing, I might like this.

I think quite a few people like Avett Brothers around here.

Also I dig that dude's shirt.

I listened to the first 5-6 minutes of the stream but didn't care for it. Don't really like his voice and the music was pretty dull. There's a bit of a ramshackle lofi quality to it that I don't really care for either. I didn't really notice any Grandaddy vibe but I don't like them at all so maybe there's something to that.

That Kathleen Edwards leaked in October. I have it but haven't listened to it yet. I'll dig up the link and post in one of the twentytwelve threads if people want it.

Yeah, I'm actually digging this as well and I've been progressively getting disengaged from the Americana/roots genre over the last several years. I think the last one I really liked was Carolyn Mark & NQ Arbuckle.

np: Speak Out.
