reading/leeds is the same lineup at two different locations on the same weekend. there are a couple european festivals that do that.

even though organizers are trying to get the same lineup for both weekends, i'm not sure how they expect some bands (especially the smaller ones) to stick around for a week. will the weekdays between be a slew of shows in the area? i just see a few logistical issues coming out of this.

Coachella organizers are banking on bands sticking around and playing shows in the region, and then coming back for the next weekend.

this must be inviting to artists. i'm pretty sure Goldenvoice wouldn't have come out with these extra dates if not.

there are some really great acts on this bill. there are also some horrendous bands that will somehow get the webcast priority over better ones.

What's with the punk rock reunion tour vibe? Refused, At the Drive In, Godspeed, firehose. This would have been a really great show in, like, 1998.

Come to think of it: Pulp, Radiohead, Mangum, Mazzy Star. It really could have been a late 90's gig.

Ahhh man, that sucks! Yeah, we got tix back when they announced layaway. Easier that way, you don't have to rush and pray.

Yeah. We should've done that too. It's never been this much of a mad rush in previous years though. I also hate to buy a $300 ticket before seeing the lineup.

Pulp is playing a show at the Fox Theatre in Pomona on 4/21, which is one of the better venues I've been to. Also it's 5 miles from my house and I don't have to sleep in the desert, so I'm all set!

the Riviera, eh? If you get a cocktail there (I think you get drink tokens upon check in), do it at the indoor bar. I'm sure that place will be insane for that weekend, and the last time I was there I had to spend 30 minutes trying to find the outside waitress to close out. Also, the selection is a hundred times better.

but then again if you have enough energy for boozing after the show, you're probably better off going to one of the places on Palm Canyon.
