Wow. I follow him on Twitter and hadn't caught that...which is surprising because he tweets a lot. I hope he does some cool stuff with releases. This just makes me wonder what going to happen to stuff like Op Ivy, Avail, etc.

I found it because of his tweets. He was tweeting, asking what to do with his releases basically and then provided a link to what I posted.

Anyone catch Lana Del Ray on SNL last night? Girl can't sing. But fun to watch.

Collection of Letterhead from well known/interesting people. From the same folks as Letters of Notes

In some ways I feel like I should step my letterhead game up, but I do prefer the simple and clean for my personal correspondence.

Coming to Starbucks, in time for Valentine's Day. Or, see what I wrote in the LooGAR posted, Shiv TwilightKid Monty tagged thread.

As is, anyone expecting this scene kid Lizzy Grant to be some combination of Britney/Christina, or a new Karen O, Kelly Clarkson, or pj harvey, is fooling. But, if you don't mind Mandy Moore, Jewel, or my personal fave midcentury coffeeshop throwback Lisa Loeb, you'll be good.

You have to throw in a little bit of post-feminist "it's OK to be a mattress" motif. I guess you're talking strictly pipes, but that's not what drove any of your examples' fame.

She's got a good gimmick going with the Gangster Nancy Sinatra/Williamsburg Hipster thing. She won't be huge, but she'll be a Dumb Person's Perception of What A Smart Person Is's guilty pleasure, ala Newt Gingrich.

Two Lana Del Ray songs were like, the 3rd and 4th most played songs on my Last.FM the last 3 months: As I mentioned in that earlier thread, I still have no fucking clue who she is, but I guess my chick has been wearing it out on Spotify. Also, Foster the Pee Pee.

It's not that it's BAD per se, it's that it's so obviously focus grouped to appeal to a certain demo.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was playing that night we got back to my house after the Auburn game and she had people over--and it's not like we immediately attacked the stereo screaming "OHHHHHH SUXXXORS". It's innocuous.

I'll go with innocuous, but I thought she was horrible on SNL. I stupidly watched her perf to see if she had the chops and it was way underwhelming, and a bit of forced coyness with a meek smile at the end of each was maybe in my mind only seemed a bit of a ploy.

The Dublin Dr Pepper buy-out is a much better PR solution than Dr Pepper Snapple annihilating them in court for breaking their licensing contract. Dublin had permission to bottle and distribute to six counties surrounding Dublin, that's it. You could find it in just about any convenience store in Austin, which isn't in one of those six counties. Sometime in the past year or so, Dr Pepper Snapple took them to court, so I'm assuming this is a result of that.

They'll still make it with sugar (Imperial Sugar currently, which is processed in Sugar Land, TX) in the Temple bottling plant, it just won't come from Dublin or say Dublin on the packaging. That version is about as widely available around here as the Dublin was.

or rather Bore Horse neigh, Snore Horse!
this trots along at a terminal plod in a chocolate box land
of rosy cheeks and golden sunsets and most disappointing
of all there were NO Spielbergian torches shining in the darkness,
but I can only guess that is because torches hadn't yet been invented.
Still, at least the invisible aliens eating electricity movie tonight
can't be any worse surely?

Just saw Hugo for the second time (wife and oldest hadn't seen it yet, and the little guy and I both agreed to see it again). It was probably better this time around. Got to catch all the little foreshadowing and wonderfully sly references to old films (and to films, in general) that I didn't the first time around. Such a richly detailed movie, with really great characters.
The fact that Ben Kingsley wasn't nominated for a Golden Globe (and hence, probably won't be nominated for an Oscar) is a fucking crime.

Sadly, they don't play for the University of the Pacific, as such an outcome would lead you & I to suggest it's not the boat but the motion (offense) of the ocean...

On, the it's alright to be a mattress thing has always been there, just, of late, it has become more universalized. In prior years, previous decades, each subculture & sect had its sacred holes, of which it was fine to penetrate repeatedly & without any sense of responsibility. One man's gash was not another man's gash, though, & so it was an ethical slut in Olympia, Wash., was a dirty skank in Detroit, while one humping to get ahead in DC was a gold digging hooch in Berkeley. Today, though, a gash is a gash, & Kanye, Gronkowski, Dave Pirner, & Kid Rock could take Bibi Jones in turn & neither party involved in each transaction would be adjudged poorly.
