Album's out March 6th. Only European tour dates have been announced so far, through July.

First impression- Only listened to it once at low volume through my computer speakers but it does not instill much confidence for the album. Lyrics seem ham fisted even for Bruce. We'll see. I sort of came around on "Working on a Dream".

Lyrics (especially "message" lyrics like these) shouldn't be read on a screen on first hearing. But yeah... I'll reserve judgment.

i hear there will be north american dates in march, probably later in the month. arena first go-round, then stadiums in late summer.

the song's fine. no better or worse than anything off the last two records, namely the first singles off each. it's encouraging that he's working with a new producer, and incorporating different musicians. the tracklisting is promising with "land of hopes and dreams" and "american land".

I thought this was supposed to be "angry".

Yr right, jsh--no better or worse. Looking forward to hearing the full album.

Not bad, it kind of reminded me of the 80s Tunnel of Love period.

Yeah I was shocked you didn't know the ATL Tour opener Derris - I guess that's what no social networking does for you?

Someone needs to grab him by the lapels and tell him this sound ain't where it's at man. You think the 80s sounds weird and dated?

I am no Springsteen completist fan, but has he ever left his sweet spots production of folk, ballads, and arenas?

the lyrical phrasing/cadence seems totally out of alignment with the tune. pretty crappy, really.

I sent a fellow Springsteen fan from way back the link to the new video. His reply:

There's so much wrong with this song, it's almost too painful to go into. Here's my top three:

1. He has fallen into the "calling out cities in your lyrics" trap. Somewhere, Huey Lewis is smiling. And that ain't good.
2. The word "Calvary" is misused for "cavalry." Jesus.
3. All this jingoistic flag-waving from sea to shining sea shit.

So, David Fricke gave this a 5 star review in this week's Rolling Stone. Somehow I think this is more Goddess in the Doorway than something that's actually good.

I watched that fat old fuck begrudgingly drawl out a half hour worth of cringeworthy songs on Jimmy Fallon/paid TV time.

Ten years too late, Tom Morello forced into place on stage, Max Weinberg looking like somebody's holding his family hostage and awkward old white guys full of makeup and prosthetic hips attempting to move around the stage made it look like the comedic entertainment at an AARP convention.

He looks old and tired. He isn't even approaching believable with his pissed off blue collar shit anymore. Just pandering forced gusto in an attempt to sell horseshit anthems. Give your promoter a month off and write a few dead-dad pop songs.
