Which Smile bootleg do you have? We've discussed old vs. new before so I'm assuming there's some flaoting around. Mine looks like this:

it's a double disc. on the back is the beach boys surrounded by astrological signs. no where on it does it tell who made it or where it came from. it actually looks pretty authentic. any help would be appreciated, and if you could name one that you have (or would recommend) that would be swell as well.

Since nobody has responded...

I've never had a Smile bootleg of the whole album, but I do have a bootleg of Smile sessions for the songs "Heroes & Villains" and "Good Vibrations" called Heroes and Vibrations. It separates out various intrumental and vocal tracks and different takes of the songs showing them in different stages. It's interesting but not really the best listen.

And I don't have a "real" copy, I just ripped it from a guy I work with. I think he might have more bootlegs, though. I should ask him.

I have two:
the first one I got has the same album cover that yours does, Mark. Only mine is a single disc, is on the Seas of Tunes label and is pretty crappy and unfinished-sounding.

The second one I have has no cover; a friend burned it off the internet for me. It is a loty more complete-sounding and just a much better collection, period. This was the one I listened to when I wanted to hear SMiLE.

That said, the new Brian Wilson release blows them both right the fuck off the map. I really have no use for them anymore.

I really love the Ryan Guidry version. It used to be available for download but like all the sites is now shutdown. It is mirrored with all the info except the files at http://membres.lycos.fr/harry2/. Best and most complete version I've heard.
