Fucking timely... not much credit to lyrics on Obner, but this is going to be hard to beat for album of the year for 2012.

I used to love the rainbow
And I used to love the view
Another early morning
I pretend that it was new
But I caught the darkness, baby
And I got it worse than you

I'm really looking forward to this one. Ordered it the other day, and it should be here any time.

Agreed on that Cohen, came in the mail yesterday and have already played it several times. This will be a 1012 staple.

Two standouts are Cohen and First Aid Kit. Steve Aoki is rather goat-blowing. Lots of stuff in the queue, though.

Picked up both of those this past Sunday. Haven't listened to the Cohen yet but that First Aid Kit is a keeper. "EmmyLou" is easily the best song I've heard so far this year.

Also liked the Sharon Van Etten but need to spend more time with it.

Seconding that hookup for First Aid Kit (please). I love their earlier singles.

RIYL is really Jesus Lizard. I didn't really hear MoB. I checked it out, and it's not something I would revisit.

Yeah I had downloaded it but hadn't listened to it and then the Pitchfork review name-checked Pissed Jeans and The Men and that sold me.

Dean Owens
Darrell Scott
Leonard Cohen
Kathleen Edwards

probably in that order

Need to make it all the way through Damien Jurado and Mark Lanegan a few times but first impressions were just so so.

Yeah, the more I listen to it, I hear Jesus Lizard - definitely a miscategorization on my part.
