I couldda missed some of you talking about it, but I didn't realize there is a Jack White solo album coming out in April. You can go to his site and stream the first single now. Sounds good, but definitely more laid back than White Strips.

Definitely interested. I'll probably buy it sound unheard. One of the few artists I'd do that with.

Yeah, I'll probably pre-order the vinyl as long as it's not stupid expensive. Still, he does look disturbingly like Michael Jackson in that pic.

Yeah for me, White Stripes were vastly better than any of his other projects, although I have liked some of his production stuff, like the Loretta Lynn album in particular. I'm definitely curious about this solo thing though. Seems like most of his non-Stripes projects were things where he took on more of a sideman role with moderate success. I probably didn't like that stuff as much because I never really liked any of the collaborators he worked with anywhere near as much as I liked White Stripes so it always seemed like a step down to my ears. Curious what direction he goes when he's back to running the show. (I love Meg, but I'm not about to believe Jack wasn't running the White Stripes.) But yeah, single sounds like he may be letting his countrified/folky down home side take over. Still wanna see what else he does on the rest of the record though.

Still waiting on the Kid Rock-Jack White Damn Yankees tribute band.

sidenote/trivia: Ruby Amanfu is the duet vocal on that track. She was one of Wanda's Cupcakes in Jack's Third Man House Band that backed Wanda Jackson on a few shows last January. She was also part of the folk/R&B duo Sam & Ruby.

Surely Spoon are due a new LP also?

I think Jack White is someone who makes better music when he's pissed off and it seems to me he's mellowing with age/wealth.
