Mostly unexpectedly I had a heart attack last weekend. In the hospital I couldn't have the patience to listen to iPod etc. and was too asorbed into the mechanistic factory model of western medicine in which context my very body and existence was a mere opportunity for profits by the healthcare/big pharma elite overlords.

My point in sharing this on Obner: when I got home yesterday I immediately lit sage in the house and listened to Mozart's Requiem, then Astral Weeks, and then Joni Mitchell's Blue (I know, boomer hippie snooze), and then Coltrane's Giant Steps and then Exile on Main St. The need to return to these sacred spaces made by music. The impact of music on perception. The reason to live.

The Obner Cardiac Survivors Club has another member.

Don't know if that's good, or bad -- good, it means you didn't die, but bad, you had to have an heart attack.

Damn, Harry.
Glad to hear that you are on the road to recovery. And, do whatever corny shit that you need to do to get yourself all the way there.
Thoughts are with you, my friend.

Jesus, my brother. For some unsubstantiated reason, I just assumed you were all California sprouts & leg-warmers hale and hearty. That's scary shit to hear. I was stress-testing yesterday as 12 month follow-up to last year's stent. Be better, and whatever you've been doing to bring that on, cut it the fuck out.

Very sorry to hear that Harry and hope you're on the mend. As much as I love Exile, I don't know that I'd be ready for it so quickly after being hospitalized. I think I would need to hear Blue though after an experience like that.

Take care of yourself.

This is a pretty shitty way to get out of our non bet on the 49ers winning the Super Bowl.

As others have said, do whatever you have to do to get better, just focus on that. We'll of course be here to provide bad comic relief.

Jesus. This is scary stuff harry. Take care of yourself and get well.

I'm sure you have good people around you.

Oh, and I'd have probably gone with "Sketches Of Spain" for the homecoming.

Don't you die without giving us that autobiography (abridged, if necessary).

Seriously, hope you make a FULL recovery soon. I would tell you to take care of yourself, but I can't bring myself to the hypocrisy.

next time Death shows his face, just kick him in the nuts again ... or play some jazz fusion shit from the Netherlands to really annoy the fuck out of him.

Hey, I had heart surgery back in Sept.! All for the better, though. I'm listening to a lot of my music collection lately. Not just the go-to classics though, even the crap that I haven't touched in years.

I know this is not the place for laughs, but, yeah.

Damn dude. I echo all the sentiments, you, Acid Grandfather, are needed in this world, but especially our weird little corner of the internet.

Take care of yourself first, and I know this is perfunctory, but some of us mean it when they say stuff like this - let us know if we can do anything to help.
